The NCAA was going to fight this one to the bitter end and wants it expedited and while Sorsby is a good QB prospect , he can’t afford to sit out a year , enter the 2027 draft, and expect to go higher than an already loaded class. Just go to the NFL, sucks he’ll miss out on the 6 million dollars or whatever from Texas Tech but that’s his own doing 1 Quote

He’s an idiot but feels like it may give you a chance to get Josh’s backup. That may not get it done but who knows how toxic he is. It feels like a good team, with a strong locker room, will be where he lands. Quote
PetermansRedemption Posted June 16 Posted June 16 The supplemental draft is so rarely used, someone is going to have to remind me of how it works. Is it blind bidding? And you end up giving up a 2027 draft pick? Quote
SoonerBillsFan Posted June 16 Posted June 16 This is not hard, you never bet on your own team / own games period. 9000 bets while at 3 schools? Addiction or not, he shouldn't be allowed to play college ball again. Him entering the NFL will be interesting as im pretty sure you cant do that in the NFL. 2 Quote

They go round by round until someone is selected or everyone passes. Yes whoever selects him will lose a 2027 draft pick based on what round he’s selected in 26 minutes ago, Kirby Jackson said: Would you? If so, what are you throwing out there? I’d probably feel comfortable putting in a 5th but it doesn’t jive with Beane even with them taking more chances per se. I’d expect Sorsby to cost a 3rd or 4th in the supplemental draft to the team who selects him Quote

Richard Noggin Posted June 16 Posted June 16 You just can't bet on the sport you play. Period. He should not be playing football at any level, in my opinion. He chose to seek money a different way. Now he can go pro doing what he truly loves: gambling on football. 1 1 Quote

It’s an interesting case because I’m not sure a bad team can bring him in as the potential qb of the future. He’s too toxic IMO. He hasn’t even gotten to the league yet but needs to go somewhere to try to rebuild his value. I feel like he has to go somewhere with a really good QB and a strong locker room. He basically will play in the preseason, practice and MAYBE after an injury. The list isn’t that long of places that I think make sense. While the Bills may make sense, I agree that’s not Beane’s style. Edited June 16 by Kirby Jackson Quote
Sierra Foothills Posted June 16 Posted June 16 (edited) It's naive to think that the problems he created in college won't follow him into the pros and I think most NFL teams will be very wary of him... of course it only takes one club to roll the dice (pardon the pun). Skipping ahead, I wonder what'll happen if no one picks him in the supplemental draft. If he's not picked, will he resume the legal road for NCAA reinstatement? I guess so. They deserve the money. Gambling has always been there. It is just legal now. As with any other addiction, this is a huge red flag. @Ethan in Cleveland, I'm not following your point. gonzo1105 Posted June 16 Author Posted June 16 By the way as I was doing evaluations for the 2026 draft when I did my early scouting before players returned to school I had Sorsby as a late 1st round pick and my # 4 QB behind Mendoza, Moore(returned), Simpson, and then Sorsby. So if we’re looking at pure talent he’s probably a 1st or early 2nd round talent. Question is how far will he drop in the supplemental due to his obvious issues before someone can’t overlook the potential of a franchise QB Quote
Buffalo716 Posted June 16 Posted June 16 The gambling could definitely impact it But I'm gonna say someone pulls the trigger in the 4th maybe 3rd Quote
LEBills Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Feels like a guy the Cowboys will bid a third rounder on. Maybe the Steelers too. It will probably be some team that doesn’t expect to be drafting high enough next year for a first round QB. Quote
947 Posted June 16 Posted June 16 I bet he goes for a 2nd, could even be the Jets with a high 2nd. I don't think he'd get past the Steelers 2nd. Quote

This gambling crap needs to go away again. We're about to have an epidemic of 20-somethings with gambling addictions. This is just the beginning. We’re already there. I can’t believe the amt. of gambling going on with young men. It will only get worse unless the NCAA takes the same measures as the NFL. Forget the “it’s only harmless…” and think about another addiction growing rampantly in our society. In the past, you had to go to OTB, or wherever and the amt of gambling was not as accessible. 35 years ago, my brother used to always think he was the smartest guy in the room pertaining to sports, and he placed himself in deep to a bookie. The bookie was threatening to break his legs, and my Dad chose to bail him out. My mom and dad forced my brother to some gamblers anonymous type of program, and to my knowledge he’s stayed away from it. We also had a bookie type kid in my dorm back in the late 80’s. A whole bunch of us chipped in what we could afford, but not worry about losing. I saw the excitement for awhile, until inevitably the kids lost it all. He coined it as Black Thursday. Now I didn’t care, but in the end I could walk away feeling like “well I didn’t expect to really win anything”. I never gambled again, and don’t even do fantasy football. I just don’t want to get the itch and take it too far. Besides, I’m so competitive, I’d waste an inordinate of time on fantasy sites, when I can be more productive. This was just discussed on MTC on Sirius, and they pointed out all of the potential consequences of not making changes in the NCAA. I agree as most young men are not emotionally intelligent until they reach their 20’s. Their personalities are still developing to some degree. At least the NFL suspended a bunch of players, coaches, and staff for over a year. Now the rookie orientation has a major section discussing the strict rules by the NFL, and NFLPA. 1 Quote
BillyJoeBills Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Why not "let the cat out of the bag"? Let Sorsby slide to Las Vegas in the supplemental and reveal what's fueling the power of the NFL and sports radio? It always gets me, when the sports hosts have a recovered gambler on the show warning about the dangers of online betting; then they cut away to commercial break, and promote their station's sponsors; DraftKings, FanDuel or BetMGM. The NFL can't wait to go fully global, that market bets on everything from Formula 1 to Ostrich racing. 2 Quote

H2o Posted June 16 Posted June 16 I'd throw a 5th or 6th out there for him in the supplemental draft. He's got real potential if he can get it together. I think being around the guys on this team could help him do that. Quote

SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY NEW ENGLAND. 3. Any felonies by players results in immediate assignment to Kansas City, with New England receiving a future conditional draft pick. Quote
