There are moral standards, then there are business to deal with, in this case, winning. Life is not black and white, and we are not living in a black and white world. If we say all the middle eastern countries are effectively monarch and thus we cut off and relationship with them, we probably won't be able to enjoy our comfortable life in terms of energy consumption.

 

From management perspective (Beane and Brady), it's about risk management. Someone said earlier, he's a time bomb and I agree. But do we have any idea of the "time" or telltale signs?  That's what Beane and Brady need to have a plan, because I do think there is benefit to the business of winning if we know when to leave when that "time" comes. Right now it is likely the "kiss-up" time when he tries to make the team to make the dough. If he shows that his talent is not that far better than the others, you cut the bait --- not worth it. But if he does and makes the team, that's a check point on how he changes. The big danger is when he actually makes significant contributions in games for us, you may see his old habits coming back. I'd say Beane and Brady will need to make sure they can handle that with a backup plan. otherwise, don't bother.

CJGJ was surprising - but he was more of a 'tough to deal with personality' kind of move that we wouldn't have made under McDermott. But he was never a violent person with legal issues.

 

Jermaine Burton IS that kind of person. All the talent in the world. He would have been taken before Coleman and maybe even before Worthy had he not had problems. And then those problems continued, both in the locker room and off the field, when he came to the NFL.

 

Very surprised to see we'd bring him in, even for a tryout.

I love it. Not even as much about him,  as im excited for the signaling of a philosophy tweak. 

 

Theres no reason to not give these a shot. Were the opposite of the Bengals, where he never had any chance. At least get him in a serious organization and see if you can get anything out of him. And if not, were not paying the kid.

 

We should have a rotation of these guys, just g2 be careful to not keep more than 1 around at any time. Im tired of the choir boys only

Read up on how he poked a female Tenn college student in the mug on the field after an Alabama Tenn game.  Pure  chivalry there and all class with that one🙄

She's a chick.  Not sure she and SSRIs are going to be able to help Burton.

 

Typically in this situation, he needs a strong male role model who can beat his butt if he doesn't shape up, and he needs the carrot of a new multi-year NFL contract.

My base assumption is these guys are all morons a holes and would be losers if not for football talent.

 

I'm sure plenty of them are decent, but none do them get their great lives (until they ruin them, which like 70% do) for being good, just good at football.

 

So, I don't care if they are not good guys, they are here to win a chip in my tv

You're on some of your usual crazy stuff if you think:

 

a.) Burton's going to be starting for us. 

 

and 

 

b.) That Josh Palmer of all people on the Depth Chart will be the odd man out.

 

It's very likely this is nothing more than a favor to his agent. After the stuff he pulled in Cincinnati, showing that the wake up call of slipping to the 3rd didn't register - i'm surprised he's even getting a tryout.

 

If he is signed, the most likely scenario is he's brought to Camp and then ends up on the Practice Squad - where he'll have to continue to earn it and prove that we can put *any* amount of trust in him.

 

There's no way he goes from having to work his way back from the bottom by earning a spot through a tryout and then is immediately not only put on the 53, but is immediately put that high on the Depth Chart. 

 

And I really don't understand the axe you continue to grind with Palmer. The hip drop tackle he took from Alford 6 games in was a Season Ender for all intents and purposes. I don't get why you are so intent on giving up on him before we see what a healthy season, where he's not asked to essentially be a #1 with Moore here now, looks like.

 

I can understand not wanting him to be a full time starter without competition. But I can't understand feeling like he doesn't even deserve a roster spot - especially when we're paying for him this season either way.
