It’s very easy to talk to the media about this if you play it right just be upfront.

There are a lot of talent in between Diggs/pickens and Cephus. Burton is one of those talents.  Cephus ran a 4.73 btw

Its an absurd person to bring into a new regime.  Guys like this are a timebomb only you don't know when the timer was started.

 

And for anyone who wants to tell me women are bad and you have no idea what women are like with athletes, spare me, the athletes who seek out those toxic types of people are themselves toxic.  There are tons of pro athletes across all five pro sports and like 99% of them have normal relationships with wives and girlfriends or friends.   Guys who beat up women regardless of the reason with the exception of their life being in danger should not be tolerated.

I believe that guy is Joe Brady. It’s his show and if he wants to give the guy a shot I don’t think it’s a problem. 
 

If anything happens, you cut him. It’s probably his last chance and it is worth it to take a look if it helps you win.
 

Obviously most people don’t tolerate violence like that. But he was accused of doing something, charges were never brought, so who knows what really happened there. Redemption is a real part of life and if Brady believes in the guy I’m going to go ahead and trust him on it. I think the locker room culture is strong enough here to make something like this work. I don’t think there is any risk here. If they were signing him to a big contract or something it’s a different story, but this is a rookie mini camp try out, literally the lowest of the low opportunities. Will fans be offended? Sure maybe, but that doesn’t matter.

If this kid wants to play, he will play. He will make the roster without doubt and be a strong contributor. IF HE WANTS TO. That's the question - has he matured and does he possess the ability to overcome his demons, whatever they are. I for one am pumped about this news. He could be the missing piece on offence. Long way to go and time will tell.....

yes, I probably should’ve added the symbol for sarcasm, but the situation with Matt Ariza was pretty much a done deal based on the type of allegations. It just sounded so horribly bad that they had no choice despite the facts not being out.

 

Regarding Burton, it’s low probability and low risk.

I’ve half joked- if we took away the money, getting beaten In the arena for our entertainment is about the best job they could get offered.

 

i would rather see Burton get tackled than hand him my keys as a valet, or pushing a broom at my kids school. Clearly not sideline security material. 

 

but we all have feelings that he will make more than we do in this role

Again, as I must annoy some, I’ll wait and see.  He has talent, but needs to know this is it.  There are no third chances.  His agent has probably pending this into his head.  This is it kid.  Screw this up and you’re done.

 

If he somehow has a miraculous turnaround d, great.  We have depth at the position for once.

 

Younknow after the O Lineman pick Saturday, I was pirsed.  Not cursing.  Then they really turned it around.  If this guy has a chance at working, that would be great.

I think that the pendulum has certainly swung for the Bills some since Ariza. They were a young, up-and-coming team, with a QB becoming a star. They tried to add a guy that was arguably the most talented punter since Ray Guy. The hope was that he would become a star on an ascending team. 
 

4 years of disappointment later, the team is more desperate. The window is absolutely still open but they are no longer this ascending contender. They aren’t on the 3rd hole anymore. They’re at least at the turn and a few strokes behind the leader. They’re running out of holes to make up the deficit so they try some shots that they wouldn’t hit with a 3 stroke lead or with 3 rounds to go. They are trying to make their move to win a title. 
 

Now Burton alone doesn’t represent that mindset shift. CJGJ does to a degree. Firing McDermott does to a degree. Trading for DJ Moore does to a degree. The Bills are acting a little more urgent. With urgency comes bending your guidelines some. The zero tolerance that once existed becomes, “limited tolerance.”

But let's get real - teams do this a lot. KC does. Baltimore does. I'm sure there are many examples of "thugs" being employed by NFL teams. I want football players. This dude is a football player! Let's hope he has cleaned up and is ready to work hard and win.

I really think it's the McD point. CJGJ is not a McD "guy" at all. Burton is not a McD "guy" at all. This new regime is in it to win it baby!

If this guy is going to make it in the league it's going to be for a team like the Bills with strong locker room culture. Definitely did not help him to land in a place like Cincinnati.

I'd imagine the team feels confident they have a strong enough culture to work with a guy like this...that said, I'm sure he's gonna have to truly show he's matured and won't be a distraction.

 

I'm reminded of Chase Claypool, it actually seemed like he was on his way to a roster spot and had done some growing up but then got injured and that was it.

This may be entirely fixable.

 

Maybe he broke up with that toxic woman who drove him to violence. Some women just know how to push your buttons. 

 

Maybe what he needs is a typical Buffalo woman (5'1 and 180) that's going to be understanding and give him some good loving !!
