I want a vet presence at all critical areas like OL, LB, CB and S for the playoffs. They don't need to play a down between now and then. Strictly break glass in case of emergency so we don't end up losing because of one liability. During the season, bring the young kids up to speed. That’s how you end up with Dane Jackson out there rather than an actual player. This is exactly what we have done and need to change. 1 Quote
MrEpsYtown Posted April 26 Posted April 26 (edited) I’d at least call Cameron Jordan and see if he wants to help this team win a championship. Shaq Thompson or Bobby Okereke for obvious reasons Jalyn Armour-Davis -coming off injury but gives you another outside/inside corner who played for Jay Valai at Bama Michael Burton - Fullback and special teams who is plenty familiar with Brady/Carmichael Sean Payton stuff. Greg Gaines - offer him a minimum deal to come play some nose I’m scouring the world looking for a punt returner. May UFL guy or something. Edited April 26 by MrEpsYtown Quote

Kayvon Thibodaux and Malik Nabers can be had. Nabers isn’t going anywhere, and now that Lawrence was traded, the likelihood of Thibodaux being traded is low. Quote
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted April 27 Posted April 27 As much as I love them, I don’t want to see any of the old Bills retreads, even on min deals. Time to let go of Milano, Tre, cooks, Jordan Phillips: even Shaq seems like he could be close to jumping the shark. Quote

So maybe 1 or 2 FA guys, but my guess is some of the guys we talked with will not be back. At 90 with an IPP exemption for Clayton (so actually 91). Unsigned draft picks don't count until they are signed however. Quote

I don’t see a path on the roster for one unless it’s a designated spot on the 53. IMO we really only need to bring in a vet LB and everything else is pretty filled out, for better or for worse 2 Quote

Jordan Phillips vs Brandon cooks is definitely not apples-apples for the defense I think we need to look at guys with ties to the new coaching tree not guys that could tag in because they knew mcdermotts playbook. Could one of those guys still be our best vet option coincidentally? Sure. But probably not several. cooks is not a long time bill and also played for Brady specifically- no harm if Brady liked him and brings him in over sherfield 9 minutes ago, Green Lightning said: He's slated to sign with the Giants. Actually, assuming each of these probabilities is independent of the others, it gives us about a 65% chance of signing at least three of them. But they’re not independent—cap constraints and positional overlap alter those odds. Sorry…having a nerd moment. 2 Quote
Kelly No huddle Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Maybe we bring back cooks but only if Coleman isnt focused. This is going to be a very young team with tons of energy and speed opening day. Should've happened years ago imo. 1 Quote
NeverOutNick Posted April 27 Posted April 27 Cooks is a no brainer. I’d be on board with Shaq and/or Milano as well. All 3 are vets who offer something on one year deals. Cooks especially with how creates separation still for an old man. Quote

Those three seem like good possibilities to me. Still lots of spaces to fill for competition and depth. 4 hours ago, Rochesterfan said: That’s how you end up with Dane Jackson out there rather than an actual player. BillsFanForever19 Posted April 27 Posted April 27 (edited) Seeing a lot of Tre White in here. I don't see it. I think the Trade Up and Drafting of IGB was the nail in that coffin. And the reasoning for that is two fold: 1.) With the investments in Benford and Hairston - those are your starters. Spending a 2nd Round Pick on a 3rd CB is a major investment. There's no way they paid that for him to be a 4th Boundary CB. Often times we don't even *keep* 4 Boundary CB's on the 53. 2.) IGB's strength is as a Press Man CB. Which leads me to believe that's what Leonhard wants out of his Corners. Tre White is a very good Zone CB. But Press Man is not his game. It's what got him cut by LA and had people thinking he was toast. It wasn't just his injuries. They asked him to play predominantly Man and he was atrocious at it. I’m probably the other end of the spectrum. The way I look at it, he’s cheap. He’s had a productive career. He got open in this offense. Josh trusts him. I think he’s better than Keon/Palmer right now. He adds a field stretching element that’s lacking. IMO, he raises the floor AND ceiling for the WR room. 5 4 Quote
