Stay away.  Best hands in that draft class.  But Toxic in college and pros.

They’re gonna need to sign about 17 nose tackles off the street to sedate the Mafia..

The Bills seem to really feel they don't have a huge need in that area.  I'm not sure why.  I heard Beane say in his press conference that Dewayne Carter has built his body up this offseason.  He's still listed at 302 lbs,, but they may not have updated that.  He wouldn't need to add all that much weight to make a big difference.  10 - 15 lbs of lean muscle could do a lot for him.

Not yet

But he's also a potential media circus because he is going to be adamant he wants to start and you can't necessarily have that in your NFL locker room with a rookie undrafted backup

He might be playing in the CFL and have to prove it before he goes to the league

Carter has also been training for 1-tech since last year, so a move to NT is a natural progression for him.

Mathis, I believe, played NT at Alabama and his pro comp was DQ Jones.

Oliver also has NT experience

Acker is an interesting guy. Kind of a tweener who can block, run and catch. They don't have a Gilliam replacement yet. He has a path to the 53.

If I recall Gilliam coming out was also a tweener, not a true fullback. An athlete who could do multiple things, blocking needed refinement and he became pretty much the top fullback in the league. Let’s see how it goes with Acker.

Maybe the NFL has evolved so much that a tub of goo at NT is as liability? Do teams need a guy that plays in a 2 square yard area anymore?

In some defenses sure. Teams who ask guys to two gap. I don’t think that is what we are going to do here. People hear 3-4 and they think it was the HS defense they played in the 80s and 90s…the old Steelers defense or a Dick LeBeau style D. Odd front defenses have evolved so much, more over/under type looks and I don’t think Leonhard is going to ask these guys to two gap. The nose is going to be shaded 1 way or the other most of the time like Keanu Benton was at Wisconsin.

Panthers runs 2 gap system, so they drafted Lee Hunter. Ravens/Giants run a bit of both. Saints took Christen Miller and employ a gap and a half scheme. Kayden McDonald got drafted to a 4-3 team.

I agree with you on all three, but with qualifiers.  Carter has been training for 1 tech, but you can't know whether or not the switch will actually work until he steps on the field and plays a regular season game.  I said in another thread that Mathis is the best fit on the roster at nose tackle, so I'm in full agreement there.  Oliver does have nose tackle experience, but he is undersized for the position and playing him at nose denies him the ability to use some of his best traits.  He is best used as a one gap, penetrating disrupter.  Ideally you would only play him at nose occasionally to throw the offense off.

For the Sanders,  Carter, Jackson picks we honestly have no clue.

They all could be awesome or we could be forced to play walker & Oliver way more and no real depth. We just don't know because they're so young and got hurt...

I don't think its an accident they waited until rd 6 to get a dt... they obviously think that these guys are extremely talented so we'll see. They drafted two oline guys and you would've thought it would be dt. So that tells me something

I think they're only going to keep 6 so

Oliver

Walker

Tj Sanders

Backups-

Durant*

Carter

Jackson

Ps- Mathis/ Logue

No. Not that wild. Teams are not rushing to draft domestic violence abusers.

Great. We can have 103 versions of Khalil Shakir and still be lining up Keon to play outside 😫

welp - I’m not sure it’s specifically the old off field that scared them given the Burton situation

either:

1) they don’t love the tape

2) Burton is a changed man and Harris is still doing hoodrat things with his friends

3) they are still trying to get him here

Pavia accepted an invitation to camp with the ravens. Per Schefter on instagram. Now can another team  still sign him? Does that ever happen?
