If it wasn't for Igbinosun, Beane definitely would've picked McCoy and that would've been a steal. McCoy will need a 2nd knee surgery and will be out next year IF it is successful. Beane was looking for corner depth this year and took IGB to play this year if a CB misses time or they want his skill set in a matchup. I don’t think McCoy was on the Bills board, but if he was I don’t think it played into passing on him in the 4th. Edited April 26 by LLCoolCy 2 Quote

What if Bowry is awesome on camp? I've seen his highlights and he looks awesome. Not only that, but what if Bowry is clearly the best Lt, but Grable & Lundt also look solid as backups ? If this happens, I don’t think its crazy to see them maybe trade Dawkins ( post June 1st obviously) for more solid picks in the 27 class. Bowry & Reed- Adams are the most underrated picks this year and most interesting imo. 1 Quote

colin Posted May 4 Posted May 4 i expect him to be groomed to replace dawkins in time, or ocyrus next season when he walks. maybe start at RG next season and move to LT later on? Quote

I’m not just defending Beane for the sake of it but all three picks have filled needs maybe not the most urgent needs but the longer term depth and development needs have been filled. Parker gives the team something after Groot and Chubb off the Edge, The corner taken is durable and a bigger player than the team has had in that role in the past, and now they added a swing tackle heir apparent to Dion. I feel like the drought era would be drafting a RB and a TE early with this roster Excellent post. Once the first few posters declared this was an utter disaster pick, groupthink took over. Things like long term depth and development needs weren't part of the herd mentality. Many wouldn't be happy UNLESS every pick was either a NT or WR. 3 Quote

Fans react to who pundits tell them are good picks or bad picks. They also have certain positions locked in their head and diverting from that is a failure. The draft was solid conceptually hopefully that translates into on field results 1 Quote

Seems like the two knocks on Igo are he's a good but not great athlete and he commits a lot of penalties. I think he's a good enough athlete so that's not gonna prevent him from being a good starter, but he's gonna need to be coached up to really avoid penalties. But if he can clean up the penalties he will be a very good corner. 1 Quote

Not asking you to do the work, and I know Ohio St plays big boy football, but college stats are strange at times because of the completion. I’d love to know his reputation against his own teammates in practice. Must be good since he started so many games. Oh geez… my mind just wandered into imagining what an unbelievable asset Josh would have in a Jeremiah Smith type. A WR who can flat out get the ball and move with it in his hands. Maybe we drafted IGB to shutdown Smith because we know the Jets are going to draft him! Yeah 1 Quote

He is going to get some flags... its really the only reason he wasn't a 1st rd pick, at least imo. Hes also going to erase one side of the field similar to when sneed played press - man in 2023 with kc. Ponds & igb were my favorite cbs and I just didn't think we would get one if them. Ponds was the best cb in the draft imo Igb & bell were my favorite picks Edited May 5 by Kelly No huddle 1 Quote
BarleyNY Posted Saturday at 01:00 PM Posted Saturday at 01:00 PM In general I don’t mind picks like Bowry. He has the necessary talent to be a good starter in the NFL, but has not put it together. He can be off the team and/or out of the league in 2-3 years or things can click for him and he can take over for Dawkins by then. The odds favor the former, but it’s a reasonable risk/reward. And one way or the other there will be an easy decision down the line. Quote

Leonard plays a lot of Cover 3 Match, so the fit is certainly there. While Igbinosun dramatically improved his grabbing from 24 to 25, I think that only made him draftable early day 3. His ceiling is CB2 IMO. Or, more likely, he eventually winds up being the first outside CB off the bench. He does play the run well though. That’s important as we see more condensed formations and more TE usage. There are things lo like with him, but drafting him in the second round really leans hard into him developing a lot more and hitting his ceiling. Edit: Remembered a couple more things: - He’s been durable. I do not remember him missing any time at tOSU. - The team made him wear oven mitts in practice to stop him from grabbing so much.
