The truth is that Saban would win at any place in which he was given full control, but it would admittedly be harder to do because of the portal. Check out the salaries of Dan Lanning, Lane Kiffen, Kirby Smart, Curt Cignetti, Steve Sarkisian, Mike Locksly and so many others who coached under him. You might be amazed at how much they credit him for their success. So yes, I believe that money was getting funneled to players at many schools, to of course include Notre Dame. This is however not the reason for Saban's greatness. His coaching tree and the success of his players tell the story. If you have 9 minutes or so to spare, do check out this video. They'll always be top class, but seems like they're in for a bit of adjustment over the next 1-5, 10 years. They'll continue to own the trenches, but I think theyre going to lose serious market-share at the more premium positions. Not here to bust Bama balls... but they're 'cruitin has taken a hit since NIL & Saban leaving (not a coincidence when these things all happened at same time L-O-L). I'm not a 'Bama fan, but theyve always been must watch TV. I enjoy their success, because it just feels right... and I also like rooting against them, which would be less fun if they ever fell out of contention Quote

They have two good QBs, one of which (Keelon Russell) I am very excited about. The OL is a question mark, as is the RB room. The receivers will be fine. At this point they almost seem like just another strong SEC Team. Quote
