BigAl2526 Posted April 14 Posted April 14 (edited) Sorry if there has already been a thread on this. I can't remember seeing one. My player to avoid is Akheem Mesidor. I just saw a mock draft projecting him to the Bills (The Huddle). Why wouldn't I want him? He usually is projected higher and was very productive at Miami with 12 1/2 sacks last season. Well, my problem is he combines relatively small size (6'3") with a slow timed speed (4.9 40) and short arms (32 1/8 inches). He has a medical history (two foot surgeries for which he lost significant time). He's 25 years old and was coached by Jason Taylor. The former all pro Taylor has to be one of the better defensive line coaches in college football. It's been argued that his superior hand technique and productivity is mostly due to his maturity and development under Taylor and he may be a lot closer to his ceiling than most other first rounders. Who is your player to avoid in round 1? Edited April 15 by BigAl2526 2 Quote
nosejob Posted April 14 Posted April 14 CB / LB....less Styles gets a DUI and/or a rape charge or something. My guess is Kayden, Parker or move down. Quote
ScottishBills Posted April 14 Posted April 14 if its just one guy, I agree on Mesidor, little interest in a 25 year old More generally - no short arm speed rusher there - Howell, Thomas And to be honest don't want an LB there either - CJ Allen, Anthony Hill, Rodriguez - don't mind trading down and getting whichever one falls to 40, but 26 is rich for an LB I'm sure a good OL will fall there and we might get tempted to start planning for post-Dion or not paying Cybo - but we have too many other needs to be doing a planning pick right now, especially without a second. We need to find 2 players on Days 1 and 2 to come in and contribute - whether that's 26 + 91 or for example taking more shots with 38 + 69 + 91 (trade with HOU example) 1 Quote
GunnerBill Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Yes Mesidor is one I'd want to avoid but Kadyn Proctor is my absolute do not pick. 2 1 Quote

Added a WR who can play right away and built the interior 3 Dline for years. Quote
Kirby Jackson Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Kadyn Proctor for me. His size is intriguing but after watching some more I can’t help but shake the feeling of Cyrus Kouandjio. I’ll pass on such a low floor prospect when the Bills have been quite good at finding, and developing OL. 1 Quote
Bill from NYC Posted April 14 Posted April 14 (edited) Any corner or any safety under any conditions. Josh needs to be provided with weapons. Then again Coach McCorner was fired so we should be OK. Edited April 14 by Bill from NYC 2 1 1 1 4 Quote

I got in those same slots (nflmockdraftdatabase) CJ Allen Chris Brazzell Darrell Jackson Same idea, but I would like something extra at LB, in the hopes that we can find some other bits of DL from the existing TJ Sanders, Carter, Landon Jackson no shows 1 Quote

The only way that happens, IMO, is if they go with a developmental OT in round 1 to eventually replace Dawkins. I suppose a DL or Edge might not start ahead of Sanders-Oliver-Walker-Rousseau-Chubb but they’ll play lots of snaps. OT is really the only spot that I don’t think will see significant playing time this year (unless they win the LG job). LB & WR have starting spots available now. If they go DB, that guy can either play the slot or if it is a S, CJGJ can play the slot. That guy would play a lot like the DL/Edge. An IOL would be the favorite for the LG spot and maybe the long term replacement for Cybo. This Bills team isn’t as deep as they’ve been and has a couple of starting spots open so they should get/need to get a few guys to contribute now. This isn’t like a few years ago where there was maybe one spot and then you were hoping to catch lightning in a bottle with guys like Benford. 1 Quote

colin Posted April 14 Posted April 14 i'll go the other way. i want pass rush or wideout upside in the first. i suppose i can get comfortable with an interior DL who brings some pass rush and a load of lumber, but aside from coaching our issue keeping us from the chip has been money being spent on hurt or only partially contributing players, and scrubs getting key game burn (aj klien, hamlin, elam, injured rasul douglas, the td allowing ups drivers vs denver). we need to draft some guys who in their years 3-5 provide the production of someone who would get a 20-40mm dollar a year contract. we've done that with OL, but we need it at the two most expensive non qb positions. 2 Quote

I can't see McD overriding Brandon. That being said, McD did have specific types on defense, and his defense became a bit too complex. Brandon has to know, that he's under a microscope with this draft. If I'm Brandon, I put my money on Josh and go all out to get him 1 more difference maker. 2 Quote
