Caleb Williams with the 3rd most yards lost in a single season from drops but  also the most yards lost from bad throws…all in the same year.

Is this the time that we mention how bad Josh’s receivers have been?

JK, I am annoyed though that Knox dropped that TD in Cleveland to end Josh’s 40+ TD streak. I think that could have become a crazy record. With these better pass catchers, and what I presume to be a more aggressive offense, he may have another 5 or 6 straight years of 40+.

Josh was the MVP that season. Why? In part because he didn't throw interceptions.

One can argue that it would have been better had he thrown the ball away instead of taking the sacks that gave him this stat but on the other hand, part of Josh's genius is his ability to extend plays and complete passes down field. If he threw the ball away instead of extending plays, he wouldn't make the plays he makes.

Josh has always had many drops and likely always will. He throws an extremely hard, fast ball.

Ah, I see others got there before me. But this is a major factor.

i remember diggs dropping a dot that hit him perfectly facing KC in that home playoff game we lost.  i also remember kinky dalton dropping the 4th and forever hero pass (a tougher one), and pepperidge farm remembers cooks (bad call tho!) not coming up w a ball that went into his hands that the db wrestled away this past season.

our "weapons" not hanging onto balls has been a bit of an issue!

Sherfield had a couple drops in that home playoff loss to KC as well.

Our WRs drop a lot of lobs too. Cook has at least 3 wheel route drops for TDs.

Maybe they are expecting piss missiles and the slow rainbows throw them off?

Maybe it's not the best idea to rely on a guy acquired as a street free agent to make catches for you in a playoff game.

A guy in his 12th NFL season who had 19 catches and 165 (EDIT: yards) in 10 games before coming to Buffalo (EDIT: as a street free agent)...yet became Josh's most trusted receiver in the AFC Divisional game.

That said, there are multiple causes to the drops, with the most glaring one they hadn't invested enough in talented NFL WRs, drafted and in UFA.

How many sacks did Josh take in the 2024 season? 14.

You could make this case for 2025, but not 2024.

Didn't like that signing in 2023, and was glad when he was gone.  He was so bad.

Must be out of the NFL by now, right? 😵‍💫

Man, the guy is so damn good. We've been so busy fighting haters for 8 years telling us how bad he is, that he's been one of the greatest QBs to ever play the game in the meantime.

It's rare to reach the level of "you're so good, that if you lose, it's because the team around you, the refs, and the luck of the universe let you down". But he did, and he reached that level way back in 2021. It's one of the ironies of life, that the best of them all is hidden and dismissed because of the failures of other, while the less great (Brady, Mahomes, Lamar) are placed on pedestals above you due to better outside circumstances.
