Allen2Moulds Posted April 10 Posted April 10 (edited) I have (2) questions about this. 1. Since when do teams feel obligated to report about a player's position. 2. We are 13 days away from the draft. Not falling for it. I believe they have an obvious hole at CB, and are trying to0 hard to sell this, so that what, teams don't think that their targeting a CB? If the draft passes, and they don't draft a CB, or they don't trade Brian Thomas, I'll believe it then. They've been trying to hard to sell this for months now. Who cares about where they plan on playing him. I mean, who's even asking them? I still go off of last year, and they were pretty excited about involving him on offense. MJS Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Wasn't that always going to be the case? They had to sell to him that he would play both ways to make him happy, but I'm pretty sure they always wanted him to focus on corner. 2 2 1 Quote
MrEpsYtown Posted April 10 Posted April 10 These crazy trades should be for QBs only. I know it worked out that one time with Julio Jones, but most other moves like this have failed. Sammy Watkins, Marcus Davenport, James Pearce. Year to year you never know what can happen and you should never trade future first round picks unless it is for an established big time player or for a QB. 5 Quote
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted April 10 Posted April 10 I think everyone with half a brain predicted this. The question is whether he was worth that draft pick and capital as a corner. Is he going to be a surtain level corner? 4 Quote
gonzo1105 Posted April 10 Posted April 10 I think this trade is TBD still. Looks like the Browns are way ahead. If Hunter becomes an all pro player then it’s better and Tuten is going to start this year for the Jags at RB Quote

No I think Coen wanted to make him more a full time receiver from what I understand. I never thought that was wise. He was always a corner to me. But they have now given up a hell of a price to draft a corner in the top 5. 38 minutes ago, No_Matter_What said: On a related note, those who know, how did Graham perform? He had a real solid year. Not a star and I think only 1 sack, but a really consistent performer. I wouldn't be shocked if he took a nice step in year 2. 3 Quote

I also always thought of him as a corner 1st, but after seeing how he looked last year, he honestly looked a little better at WR, then at corner. I think the Jags also felt that way, based on his usage. He played 323 snaps on offense, compared to 158 on defense. Now the Jags are trying to do everything in their power to make us forget that, and are tring to make us believe what they are selling. Did I mention the draft is in 13 days. Nice try Jax. DapperCam Posted April 10 Posted April 10 I thought this pick was so dumb at the time and didn’t even think Hunter should have won the Heisman over Jeanty. So he is above average at 2 positions? So what? So now the Jags took a CB with the #2 overall pick that wasn’t even way better than the other available corners. They big brained that one. Saving a roster spot on a 53 man roster is not worth just having two separate players play CB and slot WR. 3 Quote
0017 Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Browns made a really nice trade! Not super flashy picks, but solid team building players and still have a 1st rounder this year. I’m not sure why the jags made this trade, but maybe if Hunter is a shutdown corner for them this year they can salvage some value from all they gave up. 1 Quote

Yeah I feel like he won the heisman mostly because he played both ways and played really well but he was neither the best CB nor best WR in CFB that year 2 1 Quote

billsfan89 Posted April 10 Posted April 10 If Hunter is a very good Corner the trade will be worth it. I get that the Jags probably wanted a proto Deion Sanders type who could be a lock down corner and add some pop at WR. But if he just ends up being a Pro-Bowl caliber corner then the Jags will be pretty happy with the trade. 1 hour ago, 0017 said: Browns made a really nice trade! Jags were a new GM and HC looking to make a splash. Would I have done that trade? No, I think football outside of QB tends to be the ultimate quantity over quality type deal where you are better off just taking a bunch of lower percentage shots as opposed to just one big shot. I would almost never make a big trade up for a non-QB. Quote

I feel like theyd have a better chance getting their money's worth if theyd moved him to WR Full time than this move. I know the cupboards are a bit more bare at CB for them, but thats not the way they should be making that decision IMO (ifffff thats how they made it at least). Kinda a bummer for the other 31 teams, I really wanted to see it succeed, woulda been cool to watch "Football Ohtani"... but yeah, def saw this as a highly likely scenario Quote
