DJB Posted Wednesday at 02:07 AM Author Posted Wednesday at 02:07 AM Oddly enough the Jets have spent the most and had a bottom 3 offense last year . Missing on QB’s multiple times is extremely costly 1 Quote
Big Blitz Posted Wednesday at 02:07 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:07 AM Malpractice While I believe defenses must be built thru the draft - that’s a bit much 1 1 1 Quote
Sierra Foothills Posted Wednesday at 02:08 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:08 AM (edited) This is revealing but again, I'm annoyed at Warren. He doesn't state what the unit of measure is on the Y axis. This graph shows that the Bills have spent about 125 points of "total draft capital" but according to the Rich Hill Value Chart, the 33 pick is worth 180 points. The Bills selected Keon Coleman with the 33rd pick in 2024. So what the hell points system is he using and why doesn't he state which system he's using? It's like statistics for morons which is fitting, considering the status quo of the times. Edited Wednesday at 02:10 AM by Sierra Foothills 5 3 1 Quote
Yard Monkey Posted Wednesday at 02:09 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:09 AM So we are good. Most of the best teams in the league are at the bottom or the chart and the worst teams in the league are at the top…starting with the f’ing Jets. This chart is a POS! oh, and drawing the line at 2020 is done for what reason?? 2 3 1 Quote

Because it was the start of the decade? Wby wouldn't it be? Would you have preferred some odd year like since 2018 or 2021? Do you see some kind of nefarious reasoning behind doing it that way? LEBills Posted Wednesday at 02:50 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:50 AM If I was the GM, I would have spent a few more picks on offense I’ve been pretty vocal about that. BUT this chart isn’t that interesting. Likely what he means by “total draft capital” is adding up the trade value chart number of picks teams actually used in the draft (so not including any trade of picks for players like the Diggs trade). If he explains it differently somewhere would love to hear how he decided on it. So teams that have been consistently drafting at the end of each round are at the bottom along with some teams (Browns, Cardinals, Cowboys) that have not drafted a QB since before 2020. I’d imagine that we would not be at the top end of teams for defensive draft picks if he has released one of those charts. 1 Quote

Also seems trades were excluded from this --- Browns gave Houston 3 first-round picks for Watson, no way that is being factored in here. Nor is our trade for Diggs in 2020. This chart is all sorts of stupid 1 1 2 Quote
Virgil Posted Wednesday at 02:56 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:56 AM (edited) Look at this draft. They could go all defense and wouldn’t be wrong to do so. Maybe we look for a WR3 or G, but we very well might not. And would they be wrong? I don’t know Edited Thursday at 12:37 AM by Virgil 3 Quote
HardyBoy Posted Wednesday at 03:05 AM Posted Wednesday at 03:05 AM Is this percentage of a team's total draft capital spent on offense or the actual draft capital they spent...cause good teams have less overall draft capital 1 Quote

MJS Posted Wednesday at 03:27 AM Posted Wednesday at 03:27 AM Look at all those amazing offenses at the top of the list! Oh, wait... 38 minutes ago, QB Bills said: This is a Josh Allen-induced chart Yes, because the Bills have been toward the bottom in draft pick value overall since 2020, and a big reason is Josh Allen being a franchise QB and getting to and winning in the playoffs every year. Meanwhile, the Jets are always at the top in draft value because they suck and get high picks. 1 Quote
H2o Posted Wednesday at 04:58 AM Posted Wednesday at 04:58 AM Four of the best teams in the NFL are the last four on the chart. Out of the four, we're the only one that hasn't made and won a SB. The other three have. 1 1 Quote
GASabresIUFan Posted Wednesday at 05:43 AM Posted Wednesday at 05:43 AM Since 2020 in 2020 4th Rd Davis (plus Moss in the 3rd and Hodgins 6th) In 2021 3rd Rd Spencer Brown, (5th & 7th rd on OL as well) in 2022 2nd rd James Cook, 5th rd Shakir (6th on an OL) in 2023 1st rd Kincaid & 2nd rd on Torrence (5th rd on a WR & 7th on an OL) in 2024 2nd on Coleman, 4th on Ray Davis, 5th on SVPG, 6th on Grable & 7th on Clayton in 2025 5th on Hawes (7th on a WR) Seems a fair amount of capital (except high end WR) with six very good starters (2 pro-bowl caliber) and key depth players in Moss, Ray Davis, Grable and Hawes. Maybe Coleman still has a chance to avoid being a bust. Apparently quality means more than quantity. 1 1 Quote
Ethan in Cleveland Posted Wednesday at 05:46 AM Posted Wednesday at 05:46 AM I know the OP didn’t mean it, but this chart is just another indictment of McDermott’s defense. oh and it’s meaningless since it excludes the trade for Diggs who was a top 5 WR when he was a Bill. 1 1 1 Quote

Kirby Jackson Posted Wednesday at 09:56 AM Posted Wednesday at 09:56 AM Another dumb chart from Sharp. Teams with more draft capital spend more feat capital on offense (and defense). In other news, water is wet. A chart showing % of draft capital would be way more interesting. 3 1 Quote
