This is one of the areas I think gender does come into play, however. For DECADES females in the sports journalism world have had to fight rumors a stereotypes about how they get ahead in the career field. They aren't taken seriously. They are often talked about for their looks rather than their worth as a journalist. Women are often put down for their takes. So, when something like this happens that reinforces the misogynist viewpoints of women in sports, it not only affects her career, but puts into jeopardy the integrity of other female reporters.

Notice how no one is pondering Vrabel's future or how this may affect his value or worth as an NFL coach. Read some of the comments on Twitter. He's largely getting a slap on the back while people say vile and degrading things about her. Yeah, something like this, sadly in 2026, gender still comes to the forefront.

To clarify, I worry it may ONLY be talked about because of her gender.

I think all journalists have to build a relationship with the people they cover, and I’m sure quite a few walk a very fine line.

Yeah, if it were a male reporter no one would be talking about it. But don’t fret, she’s a big girl.

A Patriots coach that cheats. I’m shocked

In honor of his mentor, Vrabel hopes to bang a 25 y/o hottie when he's 75.

This would be such a better story if the reporter was a man

If a male reporter was seen hugging a female exec in a private moment you don't think it would become a thing? We disagree on that

She's also one of the highest-paid journos out there.  Her Athletic contract made waves a couple of years ago, was rumored to be $1M or so just to write scoops.  In an age of consolidation/mass layoffs/older journalists being edged out.  So the spotlight was already on her.

If Vrabel was having an affair with a male reporter it would definitely be talked about.

Didn’t two careers and two families get blown up for a similar thing on the Jumbotron at a concert recently?  And become a world wide meme and joke?

I bet this is just a long game play by Vrabel to gather sympathy from the refs when he’s screaming at them every play next season.    “ hey let him yell all he wants and give him a few PI calls, dude just got caught by his wife and the national media”.

Patriot sneaky cheating

Her Titans "scoops" were suddenly below Shaq's FT% in terms of accuracy after Vrabel got canned.

Everyone knows the rules… they’ll be no tears shed for meathead when his wife takes half of everything he owns while Russini is called mean names.

Sad as it is, many men tend to be misogynistic, not all but  an all to large of a percentage certainly are, as you stated about the comments on this,  show this to be the case.

Weird. Because who is to say Russini won't lose half of what she's got of her husband walks. Not to mention she could possibly lose her job, her credibility in her career field as well as those "mean names". All things no one is remotely thinking are a possibility for Vrabel to face. See the one way thought process here?
