Bills have informed the league they want to open the new stadium in primetime.

No surprise here.  Even if the Bills didn't request it, I could almost guarantee you that the NFL would have done it in primetime anyway.  The stadium itself is a big deal and the Bills are a marque team with or without a new stadium.  You couple them together and it just screams primetime.

While I would love for it to be Week 1, I would not be surprised in the least if the NFL wants to save it until Week 2.  Week 1 promotes itself.  The stadium unveiling would be a great spectacle to promote for Week 2.  It would also probably let them get more video and production put together as well.  But we'll see.  Either way, it is going to be an awesome event.

Honestly I would've been kinda shocked if the nfl didn't give us Sunday night or Monday night week 1 anyway. I'd think the nfl would want to show off a flashy new stadium

Apparently you didn’t get the memo about what a basic, soulless hellhole this new stadium is.

Yeah I agree.... Big League Star, SB Contender, New Stadium... feels like thats enough to get a Sunday or Monday night ....feels like a Bills Pats game... with maybe the last game of the season being in NE...

I would rather the first game in the new stadium be against the Jets. That would almost guarantee the first game there is a Bills win.

No surprise and every new stadium has opened at night for years now. The fact its out their public actually makes me wonder if it ends up at 4:25 lol

It will be a big opponent but my guess is DET or CHI to save NE for later in season same with some of the other AFC matchups

Maybe another Wednesday Night Special? Or a Tuesday Matinee? The league needs to expand their footprint, it seems, and you can’t do this in Europe or South America.

I don’t think the Bills had to ask to make the stadium debut a Prime Time event, but they made it formal. The schedule means more to me this year than usual.

I guess the Bills just wanted to confirm with the league that they wanted the first game in primetime. I think it was always going to be a primetime game even if the Bills didn't ask the league for it. It's not every year a new stadium opens and in the Bills case it will 53 years since the original Highmark opened in 1973. Plus, I would guess there will be a decent amount of Bills alumni at this game. Goodell is probably going to be in attendance as well. Basically, this is a big deal, and you know how the league likes to make a grand entrance with everything they do.

This blows.   Both the red vs blue and opener will be at night.  I really wanted to get a feel for the sun/shadows for a 1p game

It will come soon enough. Not that it will matter in December as it will still be f'n cold.

SNF

That’s my guess. They could run back the classic from last year (although that’s a really crappy thing to do to Baltimore). You could do the Bears, Pats, Chargers or Lions. My guess is Pats.

See I was along those lines... like set up the Pats for the opener, the energy etc... that would be a tough ask of any team walking into that situation.... getting up a game on them early on would be nice.
