Warriorspikes51 Posted Monday at 09:43 PM Posted Monday at 09:43 PM IMO this likely comes down to how badly Jim Leonhard wants him perfect scenario for me is you acquire Dex to blow up the pocket & sign Reader for stopping the run. DJ shouldn’t be too costly at this point that would really give us great flexibility to run 3-4 and 4-3 fronts 1 Quote

We'd have to do it as a post-6/1 trade to make it work with the cap this year and we'd end up saving $5.6M in 2027 cap space. But presumably as part of the trade you're making Lawrence the highest paid DT in NFL history so bare minimum $32M AAV. As it stands right now we are projected to be $32M over the cap in 2027. There's a lot of high base salaries we can convert next year to get under the cap but it would be tough to fit another monster contract in. Also we're probably looking at giving up two 1sts given our draft position every year and I remain firm that I would not give up two 1sts for any defensive player. You seem emotional. There are ways to make a 4 year contract work. He's 28. In my mind he would be a Monster in the new Defense EDIT I do believe Dunkirk checked agree for my " Coverage LB " I posted again after that. for clarity of purpose Edited Monday at 11:04 PM by 3rdand12 1 1 Quote

I just think between the trade draft capital and him going to want an extension (probably 3 years $100M), it will be too expensive for the Bills. We can dream though. thats entirely out of our range and sure to get us lopsided. Bills still have plenty of needs before spending that kinda moola He seemed like a good fit moving forward. With ? Or without Ed Oliver As long as Beanes is on the phone at least. 🤩 Yea , we can dream 😇 1 hour ago, Warriorspikes51 said: Okay remove Oliver from the deal since it apparently doesn’t help the cap does Dion get restructured to create space? If we randomly restructure someone at this point with around 13 mil currently then that would be fun 1st this year & 2nd next year? Walker Dexter Oliver would a super interesting line combo Trade Dion LOL!! 1 1 Quote

No. $34M dead cap this year or (I believe) $11M this year and $23M dead caps as a post June 1st trade to get a declining player, have less ammo for this year AND pay what will likely be a hefty new contract? Let one of the other clown teams make this mistake. Forgot that they restructured him. I thought there was cap savings with the deal. It makes no sense otherwise to trade Oliver. Clearly the Bills have a plan. I was hoping to leave the Dawkins contract alone but if you can get Lawrence I’m okay living the can. I’d exhaust all other options first (Ty Johnson cut and Rousseau reworked would get you there I think). I don’t remember if they did that yet. 1 Quote

TBBills Fan Posted Monday at 10:51 PM Posted Monday at 10:51 PM I'd give this years first or next years second for him. That is it Quote
billsfan89 Posted Monday at 10:57 PM Posted Monday at 10:57 PM I don't think this is gonna happen for the Bills. I love Lawrence he's a beast. He's easily worth pick 26 and 182 in this years draft plus a 2nd in 2027. But I don't think the Bills are gonna be able to have a 35 million 29 year old DT while gutting a lot of draft capital. I think a team with a rookie QB contract with some extra capital in the draft will probably be in the mix for Lawrence. It is also possible the Giants just take care of him and give him a 2-3 year extension and more money on his remaining years. 1 1 Quote

That Dawkins contract is a bad thing to extend any further imo but its tempting low hanging fruit I suppose. If they do I sure hope he comes in to camp in better shape. Interesting and honest topic , this Lawrence Quote

If they do I sure hope he comes in to camp in better shape. Interesting and honest topic , this Lawrence Dawkins has one year remaining on his deal after this season. If they convert his salary it makes him a much harder cut after this season (Right now Dion's contract is counting for 25 million next season with a 13 million dollar dead cap it cut plus two void years). Right now I would imagine that if the Bills convert Dawkins that's gonna make his dead cap and void years larger. I think given Dion's age it's a bit sensible they are cautious with any conversions. I think if the Bills do any conversions on Dion it will be a smaller portion of his salary like a 3-4 million conversion to save 2-2.5 million and not push out too much. They still have some smaller levers to pull if the Bills want to do so. A conversion on Groot saves 2-3 million for example. So I think given the fact that they probably want the flexibility on Dion and that they have other ways to free up cap space won't do anything too aggressive on Dion. At worst if they need a little money for in season space or whatever they will make a smaller conversion. 1 Quote

It comes down to lowering the trade price and better absorption of Dexter’s salary. I like Ed, he’s a solid player but I would rather Lawrence for a high priced interior DLineman. 1 hour ago, Warriorspikes51 said: he won’t be traded after this I wouldn’t think besides, acquiring Dex to pair with Walker next to him could make Oliver borderline all pro IF IF IF he can stay on the field Yeah, that makes sense.
