I put WR at 60% in round 1 (if they stay there). It just feels like the spot where value will match need. Cooper would be my favorite of the options but I think he’s off the board by then (assuming Jordan Tyson isn’t around). Concepcion and Boston feel like the most popular options at the moment (along with CJ Allen). 4 1 Quote

I think that spot where he took the ND guard is likely another defensive player. Gentry feels like an incredibly “toolsy” prospect that may be too light but was on the board. That length, athleticism and versatility feels like something Beane would like. He has Hoecht vibes (outside of weight). Hoecht weighs about 75 lbs more. 1 Quote

He's also just a really good guy who got where he has by working his ass off for year writing articles for a few of us nerds in the earlyish days of Bleacher Report. The Stick to Football podcast was the best NFL scouting / draft podcast there has ever been. I still mourn its loss. I've had engagements with him multiple times over the years and he is a top, top fella. I would settle for those top 4 picks - Cooper (my grade high 2nd / #24 on my board); Moore (3rd / #79); Moore (4th / #107); Schrauth (4th / #125) - would all represent reasonable value for me. I'd be surprised if Derrick Moore got to us personally, but maybe his lack of bend and explosive first step cause him to drop slightly. He is a really smart player with a vicious bull rush though - there is an argument he is similar to what we have rather than a compliment to what we have at OLB - that would be fair. Sorey (no L btw) I'm less keen on. He tested well but his tape is crap - might have some ST value. It’s funny is I am in the process of doing a fun 7rounder I was going to present to the board for 3.0 mock . I have no expectations to be right but I was trying something different for people. I do a true 7 rounder for the actual draft that I don’t share because I like to see what the latest draft pick I can get correct. Current record is selection 155 in 2023. OLB: Hoecht, Chubb, Rousseau, Solomon ILB: Bernard, Williams, Andreesen Would a first round pick really be all that impact this year? Do we need depth, absolutely, but I also think there are some FAs that could add that. In regards to Hoecht injury, I can only go off of what he has said where he thinks he will be ready to go. I also look at Jayson Tatum who was playing high level games 10 months after his injury. He had surgery on 11/6 so 10 months would be 9/6. I think WR is a much bigger need. 1 2 Quote

Rigotz Posted March 30 Posted March 30 I like the positions they addressed, but I just don't see the fit with Omar Cooper Jr. He ran a relatively strong 40, but is not the burner / route winner we're lacking opposite DJ. Check out his scouting report ... Deebo isn't a great comp because he's about 15lbs lighter and doesn't run like a running back, despite the strong YAC. Personally, I think adding a speedster would make spacing a nightmare for defenses. If you open up the deep middle, it allows DJ to eat at all 3 levels and Shakir/Knox/Kincaid to do what they do best in the short/intermediate. That is the skill set we're missing, not a YAC monster who's hard to bring down. 1 1 Quote

It’s going to be another position or a trade back most likely IMHO. They could go WR after the trade back, but I think it’s a very low chance it’s WR at our original pick in the first. Im not stating what I would or wouldn’t do - I am saying what I expect is most likely to happen. Not impossible to go WR in the first, but just think it’s unlikely right now. Quote

As we have discussed before, most of the first round WR work was done before the Moore trade, and they still have to pick in the first so they will always still keep doing their due diligence on guys they could take their because Beane focuses on BPA a lot. Many of the more recent guys they have met with are not first round options. So they might still take a WR in the first if they are BPA - but it’s definitely not anywhere close to 60% chance they do, it’s a pretty low percentage unless a guy slides IMHO. 1 Quote
