It's just the way of the NFL and we don't notice it as much because we are not focussed on the bottom end of the 53 and the practice squads of 31 other teams. But it happens league-wide. People cycle back to guys they know. Sherfield won't be the last before the 2026 season is out. Please God let Jordan Phillips retire 30 minutes ago, dcinmuncie said: gosh, i hope not. i'd prefer cooks to sherfield I agree, I thought Cooks gave us an extra dimension when he came in as he stretched the field (a couple of bad drops notwithstanding, although he made a couple of spectacular catches to make up for it) and if not for the refs and the NFL ******* us without buying us dinner first he’d have had the catch that took us to the AFCCG 1 Quote
Sojourner Posted March 27 Posted March 27 So there must be a concern that SVPG, Broeker and Grable aren’t the best options for them to fill the open LG spot and backup Center. Decent signings for the OLine. Quote
Buff76ers Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Not sure if this has been posted yet but its a good article about the signings. https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/onsi/news/panthers-regret-austin-corbett-follow-bills 1 1 Quote

He will turn his phone on just before Thanskgiving and have 43 missed calls from Brandon Beane. 2 Quote

Probably means Grable being looked at only as a Tackle now as Corbett doesnt come here without thinking he’s got a decent chance at starting. Also wouldn’t surprise me if Van pran granger is traded before draft day. I wonder if the knew each other was signing and how that went into the process. Agree on Grable, seems like a tackle now. You now have 4 options for LG…maybe three if India just a backup center. I would say one is tradeable and VPG is on notice. Not sure he is very tradeable Quote

I can't remember honestly "in 2023, In his first stint as a Bill, Sherfield had 11 catches for 86 yards and one touchdown." But yeah most of his career has been on various practice squads. Quote

Sheffield is a "break glass in emergency" camp body for Shavers. I'm pretty sure they know if Cooks wants to come back to Buffalo or not. In a perfect world Cooks is waiting in the wings to see if Beane will grab a WR in the draft that is worthwhile. I'm also hoping Cooks would be available if there is a major injury in camp/preseason/early season. That would be great insurance! Quote
Freddie's Dead Posted March 27 Posted March 27 Who could forget the dynamic duo of Sherfield and Sharty? Jesus Christ Almighty, McKittrick wasn't available? At least McKittrick made plays, Sherfield didn't do anything. <SMH> Quote

Buffalo716 Posted March 27 Posted March 27 BB offensive line signings are better than any position that he signs Cushenberry has the starting experience but is realistically one of the worst starting centers in the league But as depth this is a great signing and it's going to instantly put svgp to 3 and he's probably never going to crack our lineup But as depth this is a good signing same with Austin Quote

The Cushenberry signing made that almost a given. Maybe he’s on the PS but I’m guessing that he is used to moved around the draft board. He and a 5th for a 4th or something like that. 1 1 Quote
MrEpsYtown Posted March 27 Posted March 27 The Cushenberry thing is interesting. He was released early before McGovern re-signed. So perhaps the Bills had already reached out to him and had some dialogue before they got Connor back. Maybe he visited and really liked it, plus he played for Brady at LSU. So maybe, after all the dust settled he still wanted to be in Buffalo. I do think Corbett is going to win the LG job. On the Cushenberry end, he’s been a center his entire career. But I don’t see why he couldn’t play Guard. He has very long arms, good feet, so maybe he can show some versatility. But I really like both signings. Protect the franchise. Quote

He's a Camp Body. I actually don't think Sherfield is a Camp Body, although hopefully he won't be on the field with the Offense very much. He's there for ST. 1 Quote
Chandler#81 Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Joe M thinks Corbett will be our starter. Good metrics to evaluate his skills and capabilities. Quote

Yea - someone said it (might have been you) earlier in the thread - they have a hole at the bottom of the depth chart receiver who plays some teams spot if Shavers isn't good to go by the start of the season. That's the role I see Sherfield filling. And before people start crying about it - no team in the NFL rosters 6 wide receiver who can't play teams. Your backend of the 53 receivers have to give you some teams value. 3 Quote
