One thing I will never get about our name, I really cant remember any merch or logo will the Bill Cody part. I mean lets be honest, we really are the Buffalo Buffaloes. I think I’ve seen a Codyesque character in some very early advertisements 1960-61) for the Bills. Not sure it was ever in any official logo though. 1 Quote

James F. Dyson won the contest with his entry, chosen over options like Bullets. So... the Bills are named after a frontiersman who is famous for having killed many of the animals that are a symbol of the city they play in. Let that sink in... if it will. Quote

Amen, guy slaughtered a few thousand of a national symbol. The American bison is the official national mammal of the United States, signed into law on May 9, 2016, via the National Bison Legacy Act. I know all about the history. Doesn't mean it should be ignored. If you are going with history "Buffalo" is not the name of the city. "Beau Fleuve" in French means "beautiful river". I would also like to see a statue of a "Buffalo Soldier" like the one at West Point. 1 Quote

I get the history of the french word for the city and how it became Americanized and what you say above, but perspective changes with time and knowledge of how we almost took them to extinction. The guy doesn't deserve his name for a football team, plain and simple. 1 Quote

I didn't hear a response to my idea about having a statue of a Buffalo Soldier outside the stadium. Quote

Yes, and as disturbingly described in Michener's "Centennial." 1 Quote

I just stated a fact that a poster got offended about. IF these feelings are so strong maybe a name change should be considered for the team, right? Quote

I would just say my first Buffalo Bills game at the rockpile had "that man" on the cover of the program. It's not ancient history. It IS mind bending how things were and how they have changed. I've been saying the Buffalo Soldier thing for years now. I can't believe no one in authority hasn't hooked on to it. 1 Quote
