delirious Posted March 22 Posted March 22 I’d find it amusing just how ignorant of a statement that is if it wasn’t so sad. Baffling what people say on air / in public. 1 Quote

boyst Posted March 22 Posted March 22 There are a lot of missing pieces in the science of CTE. The doctor who discovered it has been exposed to have committed fraud, for example. He turned his "science" to pure profit, as well. Further, the science is still evolving and the Dr who tried to get rich off it did not discover it, as noted. The issue with the science is that CTE exists in all kinds of patients and the increased link of those who play contact/violent sports is still being exactly sorted out. But, yeah, the guy who is the face of CTE is a joke. 2 1 3 Quote

Yes but CTE in a boxer or a football player is definitely worse than most professions that don't give you head injuries Sure getting in repeated car crashes can give you CTE but football players are going through multiple car crashes every single game I am donating my brain to science because I've dealt with a lot of trauma to my head over the years and I know it has impacted my life 1 2 1 Quote

I think the jury is out on how it impacts behavioral traits as well. Millions suffer from brain injuries, yet we never read about it as an excuse for anti social behavior. This is exactly what’s happened with CTE in retired players. I believe in reduced cognitive function and mental health impacts, but retiring from an adrenaline rush like football is a mental health challenge itself. Quote

Just saying I can understand not believing in CTE, the science is still not completely established, but I had no idea that there are people that don't believe in asthma. I wonder what the logic is? Is the assumption that everyone with an inhaler is just trying to get out of gym class? Edited March 22 by Billy Claude 1 Quote
