He’s had some really awesome splash plays, but too often isn’t seen doing anything for handfuls of games in a row

That INT to seal the game against Jacksonville was awesome.  He showed some good athletic ability to go back and make the catch

Always like him and cannot believe the Bills coaching and conditioning staff got away with the professional malpractice of trying to change his body type after drafting him. Horrible!!

Not sure why all the love for this player. It seemed every time his wave of lineman came into the game the other team ran right at his side no matter what the down and distance. Rarely beat an OT being physical , most sacks were hustle never/stopping plays

No he wasn't great and he never exceeded expectation. He was drafted in the 2nd round, not the 1st... and in the 2nd half of the 2nd round.

He's been a significant contributor and occasional starter on a defense that rotates it's players in waves. And he's made many memorable impact plays for the team.

Would have been nice for him to exceed expectations, but given where he was drafted, he met them

Next thing I know people are going to start complaining Dane Jackson was a bust.

Thank you very much.

A lot of posters are a bit loose or ignorant about the specific values associated with draft position.

People will say that AJ Epenesa was a 2nd round pick however as you point out, he was the 54 pick overall. The 2nd Round includes picks 33 to 64 so considering he was the 54th player selected, he's a lot closer to the top of the 3rd round as he is the top of the 2nd round, which makes him a low 2nd rounder.

Similar fuzzy math is going on with those who keep saying that a 2nd Rounder was too much to give up for DJ Moore.

The Bills gave up pick number 60 (remember the 2nd round is picks 33 to 64) so that pick is only 4 picks from the 3rd round... in other words it's a low 2nd rounder. When you additionally consider that the Bills also received the 165 pick (a high 6th rounder) along with DJ, the actual cost of the trade was 80.01 points (according to the Rich Hill Chart) which is equivalent the 64th pick... a low 2nd rounder (picks 33-64).

In other words, DJ Moore essentially cost the Bills the 64th pick in the draft... the last pick in the 2nd round... a very low 2nd rounder.

Another Beane mistake finally gone

Guy made 2-3 great plays each season. Great 5th DE. Bust for a 2nd round pick.

"process" guy.  I'm leaning toward that one being a McDraftpick.  Either way our early round drafting needs to improve.

The only thing I care about is does his deal qualify for a comp pick. Hasnt been good enough in a long line of guys who disappear when the lights shined brightest

Bolded sounds cruel.

Anyway, I do agree with the sentiment that comp pick thing is important to us. Unfortunately, my guess is that he won't qualify. Deal will be something like $3.5M plus incentives and with his snap count last year it won't be enough.

We'll see.

You hope your late 2nd rounder performs better than AJ Epenesa.

Solid player but he can be replaced. I don’t want to lose too many players like that though because we had a very tight knit team that felt a bit like a family and we want to keep that mentality. Too many new players and that might go away.

Good for AJ that he latched on with another team. He also could get his fair share of playing time with Cleveland as well. They haven't really been able to find a guy to sieze that role opposite Garrett on the DL.

It must be tough to go from wearing some of the best uniforms in the league to some of the worst.

Lol, the Browns unis are classics.

Their owner is the worst.

Isn’t a second round pick still a second round pick? Where should we split it? In the middle of each round? Nobody’s suggesting that there’s no distinction between Pick 1 and Pick 32 but the entire Round is still the second round. And remember it’s more than just a league wide sequential order. In the case of Round 2, it’s the second chance (out of 7) a team gets to make a selection. So it does matter. No?

Despite his occasional brilliance, I will not miss his untimely stupid penalties.

Yep, he had several penalties after the whistle I recall and screwed the bills. I think at least two of them were on third down. I remember thinking to myself he should be benched for the rest of the game for doing stupid ***** like that.
