We often talk about the NFL being “fixed” in that they throw certain flags or make certain calls to push one team vs. another. I don’t really buy that. I do buy that the NFL sees Mahomes vs. Allen as “cinema” and knows the ratings will be through the roof. There’s a zero percent chance that they schedule the Bills vs. Chiefs before about week 7 just in case. So it isn’t necessarily “fixed” but some team that plays the Chiefs early potentially gets a major advantage in that they avoid Mahomes. The Bills have no chance of that happening because it’s bad for business. Chiefs at New England week 1, guaranteed. 2 1 6 Quote

Mildly? He’s awful. He’s now proven it at multiple stops. I mean if you want to argue Fields over Kyle Allen okay but Allen is getting peanuts Quote
Mike in Horseheads Posted March 16 Posted March 16 1 hour ago, DrDawkinstein said: No idea. Reading the comments on this elsewhere, Chiefs fans seem to think there is a chance Mahomes starts week 1, and this is just insurance. I could see it for any of these starting QBs, they never want to miss time. But $10M is a hefty price tag for insurance. Athletic: The New York Jets have agreed to trade quarterback Justin Fields to the Kansas City Chiefs, according to team and league sources. The Jets will pay all but $3 million of Fields’ $10 million guaranteed salary for 2026. 1 Quote

I don’t think anyone thinks Fields is good but he’s way better than Kyle Allen. Kyle Allen may open the year as the worst #2 QB in the NFL. That’s not an issue if Josh stays healthy. Personally, I’m hoping Buchele beats him out. They can stick Allen on the PS to keep Josh happy. 1 Quote

At least with the Bills barring some injury in TC we know #17 will be out there week 1. I’m more worried about a screaming bundle of joy throwing our QB off his game than I am him getting injured, the terminator never had to change diapers at 3am Edited March 16 by EssexBill 2 1 Quote
Maine-iac Posted March 16 Posted March 16 Andy Reid is one of the best minds in the game am I the only one thinking Fields could add some pretty crazy packages to the offense? Not sure he's going to revolutionize offense but certainly Fields adds a different set of tools to the tool box. 1 Quote

Any QB that is our backup is not going to get us to the playoffs unless he’s Josh Allen. I’m not gonna dump on Fields/K Allen debate when both of them are terrible and won’t win football games unless the defense, run game, and Special Teams are on point. To me and this is no knock on anyone else but I just don’t care enough to get into a backup QB debate when our QB is also an Ironman. Of course anything can happen and if it does we’ll likely be picking in the top 10 next year 1 Quote
MikePJ76 Posted March 16 Posted March 16 One of the worst players I have ever watched in the nfl. He was completely lost playing for the jets and was just standing there holding the ball. never seen a qb have a worse season than fields did last year for the jets. 1 Quote

I am not expecting Fields to look like vintage Mahomes or McNabb, but if he turns into KC version of Alex Smith, the Chiefs will be a solid team. They could be fighting for a playoff spot when Mahomes is ready to return. You can’t be serious. That’s a huge insult to Alex Smith. Him and Fields are not in the same conversation. Fields sucks. Has sucked everywhere he has played in the NFL. And will always suck. He plays scared and can’t read defenses. Just because someone can run doesn’t mean he can play NFL QB. When I was young I could run fast and elude people coming at me, doesn’t mean i could play QB in the NFl. Quote
BillyJoeBills Posted March 16 Posted March 16 How does the Jets get a 6th rounder for Fields garbage while we lose Trubisky for nothing? Trubisky 5.25M contract won't even get us a 7th rd comp pick. No way Chiefs would prefer Fields over Trubisky; Fields was so bad, the Jets sat him down for the last third of the season in favor of an undrafted QB and we saw how bad that QB was in the final regular season game Quote
