There was a report from Jay Glazer that said there’s a possibility of Mahomes being back for week 1. Missing the first 4 games seem most likely imo.

From what I recall, it was a tear of both the ACL and LCL.  I'm no doctor (and I didn't stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night), but it would surprise me if he came back at 100% even if he's there for the starting bell.

I'm sorry, but Justin Fields is the worst QB I've ever seen play (besides Peterman) He offers no value or upside at this point in his career. I legit laughed when the Jets signed him last year. He is terrible. He had the 4th most passing yards in a GAME last year when Trubisky threw one pass. Comparing him to Alex Smith is disrespectful to Alex Smith.

 

He has had more chances than any QB I can think of, with nothing to show for it. He had 5 games last year with under 55 yards passing. How he is going to get another opportunity is beyond me.

Right, but one has a serious chance of seeing significant playing time and one doesnt. And frankly, if Josh does ever go out (knock on wood), then I'm fine just tanking that season and landing in the top 10 to retool around him, a la Bengals and even Chiefs this year.

It will be Andy’s biggest challenge. I have followed Fields since UGA. I agree he lacks consistency.

Probably looking to beef up their QB2 early in the season so they don’t have to rush Mahomes back. I would also think once Mahomes is back they would use him in a gadget capacity to add a wrinkle to the playbook. Smart move if the compensation isn’t too much.

• The Jets will pay $7 million, the Chiefs will pay $3 million.
• Kansas City is sending the Jets a 2027 6th round pick.

If Josh is out 2-3 games I'm not tanking a season. Sure, if he is out 6 weeks plus I'm with you. The point is we signed a guy we know can't play and guaranteed him money. It's pathetic.

Smith was already a far better QB than Fields ever was before he left SF for KC.

For sure, and I hope we play them with Fields. But we'd lose to Appalachian State if Kyle Allen has to start for us at any point.

No chance we play them with Fields.

 

I was waiting to post something like this. We often talk about the NFL being “fixed” in that they throw certain flags or make certain calls to push one team vs. another.  I don’t really buy that.
 

I do buy that the NFL sees Mahomes vs. Allen as “cinema” and knows the ratings will be through the roof. There’s a zero percent chance that they schedule the Bills vs. Chiefs before about week 7 just in case. So it isn’t necessarily “fixed” but some team that plays the Chiefs early potentially gets a major advantage in that they avoid Mahomes. The Bills have no chance of that happening because it’s bad for business.
