BringBackFergy Posted March 13 Posted March 13 I mean, he didn’t sign Justin Jefferson, Max Crosby, Hendrickson or AJ Brown. Has he let the game get past him? Why didn’t he do more? Why re-structure Josh, Knox, etc.? Why re-sign McGovern? Anderson? A punter? Bass? Added DJ Moore. Added Falcons CB. Added Chubb. A vet safety. Has cap space left. Should he be fired for failing to maximize talent? Maybe he should have spent more $. Tell us how you really feel. 2 1 3 Quote
13 Seconds to Mars Posted March 13 Posted March 13 (edited) This is his make or break year. They scapegoated McDermott so the pressure is all on Beane. He assembled the roster and staff he wanted so there’s really no excuses. Personally, I didn’t like the Chubb signing at first, but it’s better than nothing. Any help on this D-line was much needed. Besides that, Free Agency has been an A+ for him. All that’s left is the draft and he needs to have the same results. I’m taking a wait and see approach. Buffalo Ballin Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Free Agency is actually going great for us. Summer didn't even start yet. Beane has been aggressive so far. 2 3 2 Quote
Mango Posted March 13 Posted March 13 (edited) The next season or two will tell the story of whatever power struggle was going on at OBD. It is pretty much unanimous that the Bills roster hasn't been great the last few years What we don't know is who influenced it. This years and next years UFA and drafts will answer that. I'm in the camp that while McD was deficient but the roster was a bigger problem than the coaching. I would have preferred to move on from both, my second choice was keep McD and move on from Beane. There is absolutely zero reason to believe it to be true. The man who has Pegula's ear and received a promotion will not be let go after one season given the collective attempt that was made to place all of the team's failures on the former head coach. It makes no sense. You would then be opening up more turmoil at the head coach position. Like it or not, this is the path that has been chosen. Beane gets 2 years at absolute minimum. Gregg Posted March 13 Posted March 13 It comes down to the same thing in sports. WINS and LOSSES. If the Bills win then everyone will love the job he is doing. If not, then the pitchforks and knives will be out in full force to fire him. The one thing that is a fact is with McDermott gone the pressure is all on him to build a winner. He will be the next one to get canned if things don't go well. 1 Quote
Sojourner Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Always think the drafting he’s done has been decent. Not absolute home runs but the roster has been built and remained competitive. Sure Josh has a large part to play in the success but there’s been decent guys in and out due to moves he’s made. Can’t have elite talent everywhere. The only thing that can be held against him was his comments on the WR position last year, that turned out to be egg all over his face. He has at least made a decision to correct that and acquire someone who’s shown some form of dominance in the league. Can appreciate that even if it is a year too late. With what’s unfolded this FA period so far, Pittman for an absolute steal would have been nice. Size and speed that’s also a few years younger and not a premium pick as we gave up for Moore. But if Moore can continue his production we can say that move was kosher. 13.6 ypc is solid. Back to being a 100+ target guy and 80/1100/6+ is very obtainable and a welcomed addition to the offense. Might be in the minority but aside from a mammoth 2-gapper inside and a LB, this roster is top 10. At least to me. 5 2 Quote
GolfandBills Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Hates a strong word.. I think he’s an average GM 3 1 Quote
DapperCam Posted March 13 Posted March 13 If I hate Beane, it’s because I was extremely against hiring Brady as head coach. But it seems like Pegula had a hand in that. Who remembers not protecting Allen and spamming mesh routes in the Houston game? As far as the roster goes, Beane does okay, and he continues to do okay. He happens to have the best player in the league at the most important position, which gives him a lot of cover. Trading for Moore was a great proactive move. Signing McGovern below market rate was a great move. 2 1 1 Quote
NoHuddleKelly12 Posted March 13 Posted March 13 For the Bills to have had the run that they’ve had in terms of consistency, there had to be some dudes besides only Allen to make the thing go. Could he have done even better throughout the years? Without question, but also could’ve been much worse. I’d give him a lifetime “B” average to date as GM. 3 4 Quote

Herc11 Posted March 13 Posted March 13 I think Beane is a good GM. I don't place the blame on him for past draft busts, etc because I think that those decisions weren't solely his. We'll see going forward. However, lately it always seems every time he's going after someone of significance something always happens and they get away. I'd like to see him be a bit more aggressive like the Bills were when they brought Mario Williams in. Quote
