DabillsDaBillsDaBills Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I don't see any of them staying in Buffalo. Bosa will sign somewhere else for about 2 years 30 million Epenesa will sign somewhere else for about 2 years 14 million White and Milano might land somewhere near vet minimum Poyer will go unsigned Quote
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted March 12 Posted March 12 (edited) Bills defense had become prisoners of the system. The style, tactics and how you understood your role became more important than talent. I'm hopeful that Leonhard gets the defense using its athleticism and is not so reliant on the coaches system. They were entirely caught up in thinking and not playing aggressively or fast. Edited March 12 by D. L. Hot-Flamethrower 1 Quote

In your opinion, how many of these five will sign elsewhere...... and how many will the Bills bring back?? They will all sign somewhere, this is still week 1 of FA. The deals you'd expect a bunch of 30+ guys with injury issues come in week 2 and 3. Of the listed above, I can only see Epenesa back. Quote

Fat P*O*S. Did nothing all year, quite literally.... then commits brutal back breaking penalty in 2nd half of road playoff game. Thankfully it's repressed enough I don't remember what the scenario was... but fire him into the moon. If youre gunna rob us, at least be man enough to put on a ski mask and level a gun at me 🤬🤬🤬 1 Quote

Nothing to see here in regard to the Bills. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/available/_/year/2026 Just sort by team to see what I mean. Yes and no I think its pretty telling of the state of our defense that a lot of our FA who haven’t been signed were either defensive starters or played significant snaps on defense for us last year. Makes you wonder how much McDermott was hurting the defense being stubborn for his specific guys. There are examples of national media experts thinking McDermott hindered the development of some defensive players and refused to use them in a way that better utilized their skill set. Look no further than returning linebackers Dorian Williams and Terrel Bernard. I am an avid listener of the Atheltic NFL Podcast with Robert Mays and Derrik Klassen. A very good X and Os no ESPN/FOXSPORTS NFL fluff generic talking points for those who are interested. Derrick Klassen in particular is an avid linebacker scout and has mentioned many times he wished Dorian Williams could move away from the McDermott defense. He wants to see him in a defense that unleashes his physical freakness and allows him to read and react. He thought Dorian having to process 10 things pre and post snap was working against the type of player he was. As far as Bernard he never liked him as the middle backer in a 4 3 and felt his two best skills were blitzing and pass coverage. Again he felt Bernard was less of a processing Linebacker and more of a read and flow linebacker. Id be curious to hear Klassen's thoughts on Williams and Bernard playing in a 3 4 Leonard defense. I bet he says there is a lot of untapped potential between the two and it has the makings of a solid starting linebacker unit. 3 2 Quote

Got asked to do a stupid transformation that mightve fd up his career. Drafted a big husky guy with decent anchor, and tried to flip him into Maybin lol Its actually impressive he survived that brilliant idea at all, not kidding. Hope he realizes potential elsewhere. But like previous Sabres/drought Bills, get that stankkkk off the roster before it contaminates the rest. Dude deserves better 1 Quote

The last time I called that number, I got a call-back from that same number at 2:30am. They just laughed at me. I waited 15 minutes, and they were still laughing. So I hung up. 1 Quote

The modern NFL is about building a system that bests maximizes your players abilities vs. trying to scheme fit everyone into your system. McDermott is going to go down as an excellent culture building HC who I would want if I was starting a rebuild. He better use this year off to reconsider how he runs a defense and evolve. 2 Quote

Like @JP51, the longer FA goes with our needs at LB and DT and secondary, I could see one or both of the LBs coming back, as well as NT Jones, and Tre White for low-cost depth. Heck, I could even see AJ back as depth at the right price. I hope Cooks is back. I don’t think any of those guys are back to be honest. Maybe Milano. I could see Tre as a CB3 if UFA is cold to him. Jones can go and I was never an AJ guy. Not sure what he really offers. My gut tells me none are back unless they come back on minimum deals. 1 Quote

I wish they would've realized 2 seasons ago that AJ light wasn't the best path for him and let him go back to his natural bulky type. At least let him try playing at the weight and bulk when he was playing his best ball. 1 Quote

Cooks was my answer. We may also draft one in the mid rounds, and try and gain a 4th or 5th for Coleman. They are talking him up for that reason. 15 minutes ago, HaldimandBills said: This is exactly it. HappyDays Posted March 12 Posted March 12 (edited) I'd take Shaq back and I think there's a decent chance it could happen. He went on some podcast after the season talking about how he loved playing here but he's going to look for the biggest deal he can find. Well, nobody is offering him what he's looking for. My ideal LB scenario this year is moving Bernard to WLB and bringing in a baseline MLB, and Shaq fits that plan. We'll also draft one somewhere in the first 4 rounds I am sure. I'd put LB as the odds on favorite to be our first pick in fact. Nobody else on that list interests me. Love what Tre gave us last year but his skill set was a match made in heaven for McDermott's defense. I think under Leonhard's scheme we should go in a different direction. I'm rooting for him to go somewhere and ball out though. Edited March 12 by HappyDays Quote
