Big Turk Posted March 12 Posted March 12 (edited) Mike Clay, who does this every year in the offseason and is pretty well respected, seems to think the Bills are a top-5 roster before FA starts. Seems kinda funny how big a disconnect there is between him and the average Bills fan. Edited March 12 by Big Turk 2 2 8 Quote

Dr. Who Posted March 12 Posted March 12 The concern is based on uncertainty about roster fit on D for the new scheme. It ought to also include the need for a WR2 on offense, but that is apparently a minority position. 1 Quote
MJS Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I think fans look at the roster and if it is good enough to win the superbowl. Plus, with the new defense and departures, there are holes to fill. Maybe some fans actually think the roster is bad. I'm not sure. I don't think it is bad, though. 2 1 Quote
Amaru523 Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Hard to argue with any of those rankings, if anything I'd bump RB up to 8 at least, James was numero uno last year. 8 Quote

Captain Hindsight Posted March 12 Posted March 12 They would have been in the SB last year with a more aggressive defense, forget the personal, the scheme was a huge issue last year 7 9 2 Quote
notpolian Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I think its pretty accurate, we are basically set on offense except for WR. Our defense lacks top-end talent and bodies at this point. Quote
streetkings01 Posted March 12 Posted March 12 That was always my issue. If the roster is soooo bad like WGR and some fans think then how do they consistently get double digit wins every season? It’s not all Josh Allen! You can’t win in today’s NFL without having above average talent on the roster or superior coaching ……..who thinks McDermott’s coaching was a huge reason for our wins? 4 1 2 Quote

I agree, I was going to say the TE group at 5 seems low too until I noticed he seems to have a positional bias (in that no team had above a 7 for TE). 3 4 Quote
MiracleAtRich1393 Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Lot of quality but who's the #2 alpha behind Josh at wide out & pass rush? The Chris Jones/Tyreek Hill/Travis Kelce? The Aaron Donald/Kupp? The Vita Vea/Mike Evans? The AJ Brown/stacked DLine? The JSN/Stacked entire defense? I hope DJ Moore can fill that role at wide out and Kincaid can stay healthy for once. Where's the monster on the pass rush? I don't see it currently. 2 1 Quote
jahnyc Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Yes, TE group should be rated more highly. He is right about our linebackers and safeties being weak groups. Quote
Kirby Jackson Posted March 12 Posted March 12 (edited) TE & RB feel like they should be a point higher each. It’s tough to really argue with anything else. If they get the right running mate for Bishop they could be great there. The secondary COULD become elite this year if a few things go their way. Thanks for sharing @Big Turk Edited March 12 by Kirby Jackson 1 Quote
Aireskoi Posted March 12 Posted March 12 25th ranked defense with no green group is what I don't like. 2 1 Quote

The good news is that LB and S remain somewhat under-valued positions in the NFL, which is why if Beane is smart he should be able to find solid reinforcements in the later free agency period and even in the mid-rounds of the draft. 1 2 Quote

The coaching change alone should itself account for a few wins. Rush four only without 4 1st rd picks on the line is 1990s stubborn. We are gonna have a 5-2-4 AND IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME. Denver led the league in sacks and it wasn't close. If we get into the top 5 to 10, we should be unstoppable. 1 2 Quote

I think he's a lot like romeo doubs personally, and if he's got a clean bill of health for the next year he's still likely a capable boundary WR. 1 Quote
SCBills Posted March 12 Posted March 12 The Bills roster is heavily weighted by having the best player in the league playing the most important position in the league. That said.. Yes, fans are way too on tilt this offseason. Bills, by bringing back McGovern, lock themselves into a Top 5 OL on paper as we head into the new season. Bills have one of the top RB rooms in the league with James Cook and solid depth in Ty Johnson/Ray Davis. Bills have an upper third TE room with Kincaid, Knox and Hawes. The only thing holding this room back from being a premier TE room is Kincaid’s health. If he can be durable in his 3rd season, this room lacks for nothing. WR is a middle of the pack group with the addition of DJ Moore. Shakir is an above average slot WR. The rest of the room leaves more to be desired with Palmer’s injury concerns and Keon’s overall concerns. On Defense, it’s so hard to forecast.. How healthy will Hoecht be? Does TJ Sanders elevate in Year 2? What can Landon Jackson and Dewayne Carter give us? How do Bernard and Williams look in our new Defense? Will Hairston stay healthy and improve on what was a promising rookie year outside injuries? Does this staff have plans for Jordan Hancock? What does Dee Alford give us in the Slot? Benford, Bishop, Rousseau, Oliver, Walker and Chubb is a solid base though. A lot of youth and a lot of post-injury concerns on Defense, combined with a new coach and scheme. How this Defense looks is anyone’s guess. 2 1 1 1 Quote

Success Posted March 12 Posted March 12 We were pretty injured this past season - and we were still a Cooks catch away from probably at least making the SB. And I think we've improved w/ the FA additions, even w/ some of the players we've lost. 1 Quote
