"It's a signing..." There's a logic I like and was advocating for it earlier today, but also can see where it could be a mess. When he's healthy, he's a gamechanger and that's a good price in this year's edge market. But availability has not ever been his best ability, so to speak. Edited March 11 by thurst44 Quote

Even still, he's better than AJE and Bosa. I'm not gonna piss and moan about us signing him like some people are. He upgrades the defense regardless, anyone's first choice or not. 2 1 Quote
Walking Tall Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Chubb is an above average player that will help this team. 7 2 Quote

So this pretty much means Rousseau will play DE along Ed Oliver. Does it? Hoecht won’t be ready (and should rush back imo) for the first portion of the season. While I do think Groot will play some inside, I also think he’ll be playing some outside 1 Quote
TFBillsfan Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Meh! We restructured Brown, Oliver and Allen so we could add DJ Moore, Alford and Chubb. How many years are we gonna keep running the D back with zero difference makers? When I look at our D, Benford may be the only one that has shown any type of consistency each week. Oliver and Groot are hit and miss Walker…..shown flashes Sanders, Carter, Ojun, Mathias, Solomon, Jackson …..pretty much mia! Hoecht….showed impact during one game and then got hurt. Bernard gets exploited in the run, Joe A gets exploited in the pass. Dorian hasn’t done much more than a role player Hairston…..potential but shown inability to stay healthy. Cole….much improved Benford….by far our strongest defensive player. I have this feeling Beane is going to bring back Milano, Tre and AJE. 1 Quote

Which is why I would have saved that money for another player who could make an impact at $15M. Chubb is the type of player you can go 4, 5, 6 games and forget he is even on the team. Quote

Just noted to another poster, I just looked at the last 3 consecutive listings. Either way, he's better than AJE and Bosa. He makes the team better. I'm not gonna piss and moan about the signing like some are. Quote

DapperCam Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I think it’s a reasonable deal for a good player. Can’t fill all the holes through the draft. 1 Quote
Got 2 Billieve Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I don't hate this move, but like previous posters have stated, Beane has become predictable to say the least. Bringing in aging defensive players and meh receivers hoping they overachieve. I fell like it's the same thing over and over again. Hopefully this one works out after week 10 of the season. Just about all of the previous old vet defensive players came out hot (i.e Von, Bosa etc.) and then disappeared because they can't last the whole year with high energy. Just about all of the receivers (Palmer, Samuel, Elijah Moore, Cooks etc.) have contributed very little. They let the one guy who did in Hollins walk and play in a Super Bowl this year. With Beane always acquiring middling players in free agency, how the hell did we get so far in cap hell? Oh yeah its all Josh's fault...smh. Quote
NeverOutNick Posted March 11 Posted March 11 1 minute ago, Shaw66 said: I'm not sure he's worth the money. Nobody is. The only way we can know whether he's worth the money is to watch him play for a year or two. The only thing that I know about whether he's worth the money is that Beane has much, much better information about the market value of players than I do. GMs talk, agents talk, GMs and agents talk. They have a good idea of the general market value of players, and GMs have a good idea of how much they can afford to spend. Beane wouldn't have made the deal if the price was out of line with the market. But even Beane won't know if it was a good deal for the Bills for a year or two. Von Miller looked like a great deal until it wasn't. Sorry to sound pessimistic, but I don’t really trust Brandon Beane when it comes to market valuation. I highly doubt other teams were paying Chubb this much outside of maybe, the bottom dwelling teams that have a crap load of cap space. He overpays players all the time ie Joshua Palmer $36 mil instead of the 1 year $5 mil he was worth. I’m trying to give him the benefit of the doubt this off-season though so I guess we’ll see how the draft goes. 1 Quote

Will be familiar with some concepts as he played for Vance Joseph early in his career. I assume Leonhard’s scheme will share some things there. Not a speed rusher, more power and counter moves. I appreciate the way he bullies Patrick Ricard in this clip. Makes Dion look like a fool a few times as well. He will help. In the DJ Moore topic, it opened with tons of negativity and you could tell people hadn't bothered to watch the video. Before people start polluting this topic with their "informed takes" they should probably watch some video of Bradley Chubb. 12 minutes ago, BillyJoeBills said: Chubb's coming in as a released player; Phins saved 30M plus in cap space this yr but why didn't they resign him like our team just did? Do the know something like his medicals? They're coping with the financial hardship of eating the Tua contract. 12 minutes ago, ColoradoBills said: Chubb has played in 1 playoff game. It was against Buffalo and he had a sack and a forced fumble. Maybe playing on a decent team will get his passion back and he plays a full game for the Bills every week. Based on the video I've seen he has plenty of passion for the game. 9 minutes ago, Shaw66 said: Nice highlights. I really like how he disengages from his blocker when it's time to go after the guy with ball. His head seems to be up all the time, and he has his blocker under control. Also holds the edge nicely. He should be a nice addition. Exactly. Also he's an excellent run defender whether being run at or away from. 8 minutes ago, BillsNoFlyZone said: How did Leo Chenal get 3 years 24mil and Chubb got 3 years 45 mill Market economics. BeastMaster Posted March 11 Posted March 11 (edited) In comparison to the Hendrickson deal, this is a bargain He's younger than Hendrickson, and he's got similar production I'll take a comparable player at nearly half the cost than Hendrickson was all day Edited March 11 by BeastMaster 6 4 Quote

SCBills Posted March 11 Posted March 11 (edited) I’m guessing we’ll take a couple speed rushers in the first 4 Rounds of the Draft. If so, and they can add a decent NT, this DL shapes up nicely .. especially if Hoecht can be 80% this year. Edited March 11 by SCBills Quote
