Unfortunately I do not think he is a good player and I do not like this move.

I hope i'm wrong.

we were better off with Bosa

I agree. And at a reduced rate.

And I say that recognizing all of Bosa's faults.

He missed the entire 2024 season with a torn ACL.

Given his play just last year it seems pretty clear his knee has healed up just fine. Besides, missing that year makes him a year younger.

Oh good. Another retread edge. Addison. Von. Floyd. Bosa. Chubb.

Hope he didn't confess he is under 30 or else Beane woulda pulled the deal.

I would assume you think it’s an overpay, but do you really hate the player that much.  Looking at the available options, I’d tend to think he’s near the top of the current list.  I was hoping for a higher tier player, but once Trey was signed, that dream ended.

I feel that we could’ve used the same money we spent on Chubb to sign a different version the guys you mentioned plus another 5-7M player.  Yet I think Chubb has a higher upside and could make a nice impact. It’s underwhelming but the only other rusher I’d have wanted is Ebikete due to his age

Considering we didn’t pay any of the top options, which remaining FA edges did you want?

The Von and Addison comparisons are obvious but I guess the one difference is they were both 33 when the season started and he'll be 30.  Still not crazy about the move though given he tore his ACL in 2024 but hoping for the best.

He is not a great player.

One could argue he barely gets into the "good" category.

16, 16, and 17 games the last 3 seasons

He missed the entire 2024 season and half the 2021 season.

Only broke 10 sacks twice, his rookie year and 2023.

This was literally the coping mechanism this fanbase used for Bosa btw

The similarities are eerie.  To be fair I was on board with bringing in Bosa and kicking the tires so I have to hope for the best with Chubb.  Cost seems pretty in line with what we brought Bosa in for as well. I wish Beane could actually draft a guy who hunts QB's.

Neither is Phillips and he got $30M per

Love it! Hoecht and Chubb are impressive OLB. Rotate Solomon  for a breather. So this pretty much means Rousseau will play DE along Ed Oliver.

Sure.

I watched Chubb a lot in Denver because of the whole Elway/Josh thing.

He flashes great but seems to disappear for lengths of time.  Did the same in Miami.

I don't think he was used right.

As a pass rusher on passing downs he could excel in Buffalo.

At 15M you’re not expecting a “great” edge rusher.  Which “great” edge rushers would you want at this point.

yes, I too was hoping for a more impact player, but those ships have sailed and Beane settled and overpaid (imo)

I’m not sure he’s worth the money that we gave him at this point in his career after the injuries.

I'm not sure he's worth the money. Nobody is.

The only way we can know whether he's worth the money is to watch him play for a year or two.

The only thing that I know about whether he's worth the money is that Beane has much, much better information about the market value of players than I do. GMs talk, agents talk, GMs and agents talk. They have a good idea of the general market value of players, and GMs have a good idea of how much they can afford to spend.  Beane wouldn't have made the deal if the price was out of line with the market.

But even Beane won't know if it was a good deal for the Bills for a year or two. Von Miller looked like a great deal until it wasn't.
