SCBills Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Definitely seems to signal that it’s going to be Anderson vs Grable for LG. I’d be shocked if there’s much more investment on the OL with them bringing back 9 out of their 10 active roster OL. Anderson is the floor guy with Grable as the ceiling guy SVPG, RVD, Lundt and whoever loses the LG battle as the Gameday depth. The other option was to spend 4M or more on a vet LG, so instead they go with RVD and let Grable compete to start. 1 Quote
MrEpsYtown Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Joe Marino made some good points in his podcast. RVD can still negotiate with other teams. Bills can match offers if they want to. If they don’t match they lose him for no compensation. Bills can also work out a trade it that’s something they want to do. The best point he made is that the Bills can pull this tender at any time if they change their mind, making him a UFA. So it’s basically a 3.5 million cap hold. They could be working on a trade, or maybe they just want to keep him. But this is a no brainer. 1 1 3 4 Quote
Snappysnackcakes Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Anderson is the starting LG. RVD is now the official swing tackle and possibly 6th OL if he can snap. 3.5 is a no brainer for someone they’ve been seriously developing for years. I don’t understand why everyone is down on this signing at this price. Perspective - we’re paying a possibly CB3 double this amount. LT is more important than CB. 2 Quote

With McGovern back at C and SVPG not showing he can fill in at G, he may be gone in September to the PS. Deep T depth may be needed for all the OL spots. Dawkins time is getting short too. I have to wait to see what this exactly is all about. I’ll say I think the Sean Payton saints with kromer I thought had some extremely smart techniques. Don’t always work and they didn’t always follow the concepts but… when timelines and opportunities did align… jahri Evans- 4th round OT to guard Carl nicks - 5th round OT to guard both turned into guys that were more athletic then a phone both interior lineman and were huge in the saints screen game and creative run game Zach streif - 7th round Ot the OG 6th lineman. Which gave him a ton of live reps and opportunity to develop on the field. I used to hate Lee smith getting that job instead of a swing tackle getting live bullets 2 hours ago, Snappysnackcakes said: Anderson is the starting LG. Even Nick Broeker of the Bills is a converted college tackle... in fact it was in his senior year that he converted to guard and subsequently won the Kent Hull Trophy, awarded by the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame for the best college offensive lineman in the state of Mississippi. 2 Quote

EmotionallyUnstable Posted March 18 Posted March 18 I mean for an extra 700k they can keep him. I likely do that and keep my back up OT - which allows Grable and Anderson to compete for the guard job and leave one in limbo. I also wouldn’t care if they let him walk, with Lundt clearly being a player they’re looking to develop. I also expect a late round OL flier like they tend to go for. 1 Quote

sven233 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 (edited) I see 2 options here......match and keep him as it's only an extra 700k. Or, if they are really interested in him, work out a trade. 4th or 5th rounder? Justin Jefferson? I mean....nothing should be off the table..... Edited March 18 by sven233 2 Quote

Might take more....maybe a pick swap somewhere. I don't think it's out of bounds to think there might be a starting point to a trade here. I mean, their offer isn't crazy money. They would have to assume the Bills would have to match that. But why not just call Beane and try to work something out? Not sure you need to go through the theatrics of the offer sheet. It's an interesting team, though, that I think there is value on if they want to try and work something out. 1 Quote

Clearly the Vikings wanted to instigate sending Jettas to Buffalo😂 1 Quote
