ScotSHO Posted March 11 Posted March 11 What are the cap implications of outright cutting Dion? I feel like it would bee painful, otherwise it would have been talked about more. It's probably time to cut bait on him. 1 1 Quote

Purdy, McCaffrey, Kittle, Trent Williams, Warner, Bosa and Ayiuk check that box off the top of my head. The Bills don’t have that because they give too much to role players. Dawson Knox is a decent player. He shouldn’t not be a top 5 cap hit. You pay guys like Palmer, Samuel and Bernard. You give your 3rd, or maybe even 4th, OT $3.5M a year. That isn’t a good idea. Kirby you have brought this up in the recent past, and I completely agree that Beane(and McD before he was fired), were too focused on spending money on the middle of the roster, instead of finding and keeping the top end talent, and let the draft and bargain UFA's fill the rest. What a mess. 1 Quote

The Bills bringing back guys like Hamlin, Franklin and Vandy continue their trend of overpaying for depth. That’s how you weaken the top of your roster. You do it by spending a million too much here, $2 million too much there, and $500k too much on that. It’s what Beane believes and I disagree. Don't forget alec alnderson unless we believe we completely struck out with SVGLMOP 1 Quote

We can always work out a long term deal for less. Yes. Also, I believe it when they say they want ex-college tackles to fill in at guard. With McGovern back at C and SVPG not showing he can fill in at G, he may be gone in September to the PS. Deep T depth may be needed for all the OL spots. Dawkins time is getting short too. I have to wait to see what this exactly is all about. 2 1 Quote

Serious question - is $3.5 million for a competent swing OT really that big of a deal given the position value? The difference between him and, say, a 5th round pick on the position is that we know he can step in and play. The late-round rookie? Not so much. 1 2 1 Quote
JohnBonhamRocks Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Splashy? No, but solid retain, or maybe we get draft capital. Quote

What a mess. He loves the guys he loves. They’re so scared to cycle through the depth guys. Are the Bills any worse at OT if it is Grable and a 5th rounder instead of Grable and Vandy? 1 Quote

NeverOutNick Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I’m fine with it. We really don’t need OL help this offseason now. Maybe a late one in the draft. Focus on D and WR in the draft Quote
jwhit34 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 May indicate that Grable will compete with Anderson and Lundt for LG spot. I think they like Grable a lot and he probably is their 5th best O Lineman. 1 Quote

He’s fine but you already have Grable capable of doing that. This is a spot where you replace him with a young guy (Lundt or pick) and burn through him cheap. The Bills have a lot invested in role players. They always have because of their insistence on a rotation on the DL. I’m just of the belief that a dollar is better than 4 quarters. The Bills would take 20 nickels over either. Edited March 11 by Kirby Jackson 2 2 Quote

RyanC883 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Bean again overpaying for average guys. Pay less, use savings for impact guys. Quote
Back2Buff Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Grable has impressed me every time he played. Can't say the same about Van Demark. Quote

Passing the blame on draft picks never sat well with me. I’ve always said I’d rather sit in on a draft than attend the Super Bowl. I’d love to know who was calling the shots. .
