He only played 22 percent of the snaps in the final game and the Colts lost two of those games in OT. But you also have to treat the whole body of work last year rather than cherry pick a less productive four-game run, which you can do with EVERY qb in the league, including Allen. It isn't as if teams "figured him out" between weeks 8 and 10. Quote

He had a poor first 6 seasons, then had 7 good games, then had 5 bad games, then got injured. Player of his caliber indeed. Quote
strive_for_five_guy Posted March 11 Posted March 11 The next coming of Kirk Cousins here, with less success Quote
mannc Posted March 11 Posted March 11 When I see deals like this, I wonder to myself how much Josh Allen would get paid if there was no salary cap. $100 million a year, easy, right? Quote

Sometimes talented young QBs in bad situations figure it out and become, if not fully elite, good, solid NFL starters. There are many examples of this in NFL history. The Colts obviously believe, and we'll see who is right. He had a rating of 100.2 and threw for 8.1 ypa and had a 68 percent completion pct last year. That's good play. Let's circle back after the 2026 season and see where we're at. I don't claim to be Nostradamus, but I also don't think that past results are necessarily good predictors of future production in cases like this. Quote
Mr. WEO Posted March 11 Posted March 11 $100 million max value with incentives for 2 years. Absolute insanity! Colts have learned nothing from the Giants epic mistake paying this rarely above mediocre starter. This guy had already “earned” a mind numbing 123 million before this deal—for a total of 32 wins in 7 years! Jim Irsay on a 10 day blackout bender wouldn’t have made this deal. Quote
BillyJoeBills Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Unbelievable; just 2 years ago, Jones was backup QB on Vikings and he's rehabbing from a torn achilles Quote

Darnold is an order of magnitude better than Jones--he's won 28 games on 2 different teams in the past 2 years. Jones has led his teams to 32 wins in 7 years. Now we're bringing the Colts "beliefs" into this? The Colts believed, after Luck headed for the hills, that it was a good idea to trot out Brissett, Rivers, Wentz, Matt Ryan and Minshew as starters in successive years. Finally waking up and realizing they may have a problem at QB, they believed it was a great idea to draft (with the 4th overall pick) a guy with a completely insignificant college resume who has, shockingly, bombed in the NFL. Now they have repeated the avoidable mistake made by the Giants by vastly overpaying for the often injured, most mediocre regular starter in the league--who's "best" season was filled with backup QB stats. But by all means yes, let's give appropriate weight to the Colts' "beliefs"! Jones is Sam Bradford. Bradford: 34-48, 19449 yards 103 TD/61 INT, $130 million 8 seasons Jones: 32-49, 17683, 89 TD/55 INT, $123 million 7 seasons. Colts are paying a minimum of 50 million this year for QB position. Quote

machine gun kelly Posted March 12 Posted March 12 The Indy HC made the most of him until the injury. The contract makes sense. 2nd tier $ and see what happens. Quote
