GASabresIUFan Posted March 10 Posted March 10 (edited) The offense is nearly complete after the re-signing of McGovern and Anderson, the trade for Moore and extension of Knox. I still think we need more depth at WR and hopefully Beane as one in the top 100 picks in the draft. Also need a FB to replace Gilliam. My guess is Beane uses a late rd pick. Now it’s time to address the defense. Alford is a nice addition at CB. However we still need significant help at all three levels of the defense. I read a stat that said 45% of safeties drafted in the top 100 become immediate starters in the NFL. That seems overly optimistic but it may be a hint that is where Beane is looking early in the draft. Early Edge rusher also tend to get early PT. A LB seems the most pressing concern in free agency. I suspect Leonhard wants someone he trusts in his defense to start along side Bernard. I also wonder how he fills the NT slot. Edited March 10 by GASabresIUFan Quote
Rubes Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I was hoping for a veteran NT in free agency, maybe another vet LB. I'm okay with getting a S and LBs in the draft. 1 Quote

Success Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Chanel would be a great pick-up if we can swing it. I'm kind of all in on using most of our draft picks to bolster the defense. We need a safety, probably another LB even if we sign someone in FA, and we should try for a player to boost the pass rush. What's kind of nice about the D is that we do have 4-5 guys who were either hurt all or most of last season who are coming back. I'd expect another CB & another WR in the mid/late rounds. Quote

TFBillsfan Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Thus far, Beane seems to be content or unable with not adding playmakers on D DL: Groot, Oliver, Walker, Sanders, Carter and Hoecht who won’t be available until mid season LB: Bernard, Dorian and Joe (currently this group looks like the weakness LB group in the NFL) Secondary: Benford, Hairston (???? staying healthy a full season), Alford, Bishop and Hancock. IMO, huge needs at DE, LB, S and secondary depth. Major pressure on Beane to nail this draft. Going to need 2 starters at minimum and multiple depth players! Currently, the D is very concerning.
