When they have that size and the athletic ability to be exceptional you’re spending a first round pick (Tremaine Edmunds), and when they have that size/speed combination with production and instinctual play you’re taking them top 10 (Kuekly, Urlacher). If you just want a thumper without the speed they’re available in the later rounds and as UDFA’s. Those big guys with speed usually get moved outside early in college just like TEs with the right size/frame profile get moved to LT or Center. Which I am ok with getting given the setup of today's NFL packages. Getting a late round thumper for a year or two to develop means we can have someone who be put in for packages 1 Quote

But he has only been coaching in the league for two years. Does he really have his guys? Or even guys that from his system? Great question and I'm pretty sure you know the answer too. There are actually two answers one being "the company line" which the Bills fed to the media in Leon Hard's introductory presser... and then there's the true answer. I think there's a grain or two of truth that the team feels they can take what's on hand, add a few ingredients during the offseason, and have enough talent to make the transition HOWEVER, the process won't be completed for another year. I envision some of this year's defensive starters as being bridge players... placeholders who can get the job done cheap and dirty until they're replaced by individuals who are better suited and qualified for the defense. I believe Leon Hard and the Bills when they say they can take any number of different players and make them work in the system but part of why they're saying that is because they have no choice... it's gonna take 2 offseaons to fully transition to the new system IMO. 3 hours ago, Buffalo Junction said: 240 is basically the cap weight on guys who can cover unless someone is a freak like Brian Urlacher…. And we’re not getting that freak with JA17 on the roster. 3 hours ago, MiltonWaddams said: Go draft a freak. That’s the way to get one. Tremaine was a freak from the measurables standpoint, and also for his ability to transcend the time/space continuum. Unfortunately he wasn't much of a football player... to this day I'm still confounded how the son of a longtime NFLer could have such poor instincts. Quote

I wouldn’t, but I’m not Beane, Brady, or Leonard. That said I don’t believe in moving up for anything other than QBs or generational pash rushers. I also haven’t watched a ton of college ball since I moved back to NY and started working Saturdays. Thing is…. None of us really know what Leonard needs and/or thinks he has on this roster. There are guys who will be starting, but exactly how they’ll be used is a question mark. 2 Quote

I’m firmly of the opinion that Tremaine Edmunds (and his brothers) were over‑coached. When he was drafted, it was reported that after every game, from middle school on, he and his father would sit down and watch the tape, with his father pointing out mistakes that he made. At the time this was framed as a positive, but it’s just as likely that it made him tentative and less instinctive, more focused on avoiding errors instead of playing freely.
