I'm Spartacus Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I hate the prevailing philosophy "if Josh goes down, the season is over". What a load of crap! I want to win games, even if it's with depth or backup players. What a defeatist attitude. 1 Quote
ColoradoBills Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Trubisky signed for $5M+. Bills are not doing that. It is their choice. Kyle is the backup. Case closed. 1 1 Quote
fergie's ire Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Now people can go nuts at training camp when the wrong Allen jogs onto the field. I love when that happens. 2 Quote

Beane never operates on "what ifs". What if DJ Moore has to miss time? Who becomes our number 1? If Allen God forbid has to miss time, who is the best guy to take over for 2 or 3 games? We still have no good WR outside of Moore and I honestly would have rather have just kept Trubisky than sign Kyle Allen. If you drop Trubisky, you should go for a guy that is better. The only one on the market that is that is Tyrod in my opinion the problem is you don’t get 53 starters on a roster. Or if you do it’s 53 bad ones. so now it’s the balance of is that money better in a backup qb or as you RB2, or TE2 or nickel corner or LB3-4 who will definitely get reps AND are insurance on the guys ahead or on Josh’s backup? I just feel like positions on the team that are weakest should have more than one guy to rely on. WR outside of Moore is weak. We should be trying to get a capable guy on the other side if needed otherwise we are in the same position as last year. If you lose your QB for 3 games, you should get the best guy you can that can have the best shot at winning you those 3 games. If it's an extra $2 million a year to do that, then that's what we should do Quote
BillsFooteball Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I’m ok with this…if he’s QB3. There’s no way he can be the first man in if Josh goes down for a week or anything. Quote
Call_Of_Ktulu Posted March 11 Posted March 11 I can’t see him winning us any games. This is the time to draft and develop young QB’s. If Allen goes down it’s over anyway Quote

That would be a good practical joke to play. They swap jerseys and keep their helmets on. Kyle, wearing 17, just keeps missing people with his throws, gets tagged a lot by the defense, etc. Then Josh, wearing, well, whatever number Kyle would wear, comes in and just goes hog wild with his throws, scrambling, etc. 2 Quote

13 Seconds to Mars Posted March 15 Posted March 15 (edited) I hate that the NFL recycles backup QBs after year after year despite them barely winning any games. It’s like they have their own union. I really wish the Bills would start taking flyers on big raw athletic QBs and let Josh show them how to put it altogether. Worst case they bust. Best case, they are a trade asset, potential future starter, or high level backup. It’s crazy to me that guys like Curtis Painter and Brian Hoyer lasted as long as they did. Those guys were terrible with no chance to win the game. At least with Ryan Fitzpatrick you have a chance he could go off for 400 yards and 5 TDs. Edited March 15 by 13 Seconds to Mars Quote

But he might be a hell of an asset in the QBs room and game day on the tablet etc. As with any back up QB ( poor fellows that they are ) lol , The team hopes he never has to play Edited March 15 by 3rdand12 Quote
