Should have traded a 2nd for Joe Milton III

Kyle Allen genuinely sucks, although he might be fine as a second qb coach for Josh. The thing about Trubisky is that he can get you to 2-2 over a four-game stretch. But he’s also too expensive at this point. Anyway, it’s all about Josh, and if he goes down for an extended period of time, the Bills are flat out f**ked and better off tanking with Kyle Allen given a great 2027 draft class than getting to 8-9 with Mitch.

It's not about Josh going out for the year. We all know the season would be over. It's about Josh going down for a month.

Could a guy like Trubisky come in and go 2-2 in that month? Absolutely.  Could Kyle Allen? No f**king way unless we're playing the Jets twice in that month.

This only makes me sad because I was really hoping we would sign one of those athletic QBs, Milton would be perfect example, who at least could come in and be fun to watch if Josh goes down and we suck again.

I'm good with this. Backup QB is a position I always want to go as cheap as possible. If Allen gets hurt we're screwed no matter what.

I never understood this line of thinking. If Allen goes down for a month or so, we are not screwed unless a QB who shouldn't be on the roster comes in and loses all 4-5 games. A competent backup going 2-2 over that span keeps the train on the track.

He is getting 2.05 million a year vet minimum is 1.3 million it’s a 700k difference. He is an 8 year vet  with 19 starts. Is he good….no, are you going to get a back up qb cheaper unless you use a draft pick….also no

yea he’s basically the cheapest qb not on a rookie deal besides buechele as context.

could we have traded a day 3 pick for Spencer rattler or taken a lottery ticket? Sure.

or we could’ve spent much more for a guy we’d all hate still.

At least he’s a culture fit and an (albeit low tier) nfl player

Why do people whine over a back up QB?

It can very much make or break your season. Ask the 2025 Colts. Or, on the opposite end, the 2023 Browns.

Backup QBs role is meant to support the starting QB.

Kyle Allen fits that role perfectly

shouldn't the qb coach be the qb support and the backup just a backup?  Like Brady had a bunch, sometimes low cost rookies.  Feel we should have done that.

Oh, OK.

Who supported Brady when he won his 6 titles?

How about Mahomes when he won his 3 titles?

Don’t worry, guys. He will be gone next year and trubisky will be back. And then we will do it all over again.

Gents, you can almost hear Billy Joel:

Beane didn’t start the fire

Backup shuffle never tired

Keenum signed, then cut away

Now Kyle Allen’s back to play

Trubisky in, Trubisky gone

Mitchy Biscuits back again

Josh still cooking, that’s the plan

Big Baller Beane overplayed his hand

I ***** hate this.  And the idea that if JA goes down we are screwed is completely absurd.  You lose JA for 3 weeks, those games dont matter???

I know it’s not a ton for a backup QB, but he played for 1.2 million the last 3 years (Bills, Steelers, Lions).

Did he really do anything to improve his value?
Are teams lining up to get him?

Hopefully the “real” numbers are even less than we think.

Do you think he could win an NFL game for us?

Yes, the Bills were 7-0 in games when Kyle played back in 2023. When Kyle did not get to play in a game, they were 4-6.

This is precisely why we need to take a late round flyer on a QB every few years. At least then there’s an unknown who very well could come in and be better than Kyle Allen… he could also come in and get blown up. Even if the drafted QB comes in and loses, it’s the same result to starting Kyle Allen. Difference is the rookie QB could actually be decent, and he’s much cheaper.

Wild that you can make $6.1 million for holding a clipboard for your best friend.

I’d do A LOT more than that for my best friend for $6.1 mil 🤔
