boco357 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Will we ever save $ on this position???? Can we ever take a late round pick and save $. We all know what happens to the season without 17. 1 Quote

Because every dollar is important and signing Kyle Allen at this point doesn't seem worthwhile - especially as the Bills have brought back Buechele. Makes more sense to draft someone, or sign an undrafted rookie. 2 1 Quote

He is an 8 year vet with 19 starts. Is he good….no, are you going to get a back up qb cheaper unless you use a draft pick….also no Quote

eball Posted March 10 Posted March 10 (edited) Why are people so opinionated about this topic? We have the most durable QB in the game, and everyone knows if he gets hurt the season is over. We aren’t going to (and can’t) invest “big” dollars in a backup. That being the case, the backup either has to be a very young guy (not ideal) or a veteran who also happens to be a guy who gets along well with Josh and can help during games with analyzing what they’re seeing. Now, what I would like to see is Beane taking a swing with a 5th or 6th rounder on a developmental QB to throw on the PS and try to turn into an asset. Edited March 10 by eball 1 Quote

This is especially true for the star QBs like Allen, Mahomes etc. If those guys go down, your season's cooked anyways. Does it have to be? There's a long history of backups playing well in lieu of injured starters. If you lose them for the season, maybe it's a narrow road, but ideally you'd like to be able to make par if your QB is out a month or two. Quote

NoSaint Posted March 10 Posted March 10 We were always going to have a mad at the backup qb thread. they cost too much or are bums so you are angry either way the cold reality in our process range is that they cost too much (pick or cash) AND are bums. fits in, is good at film study, etc…. Goes a long way at the roster maturity we are currently at. You also have to think friends with Josh goes past deez nuts jokes and includes being that guy that’ll be at Josh’s house watching film with an infant asleep instead of going out on the town on a Friday night 2 Quote

Next year (hopefully with a couple comp picks) would be better. With a new D scheme, they are better off throwing those picks on D or a Punter late. 1 Quote
AlCowlingsTaxiService Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I have literally no reaction to this, except I felt that trubiski could actually play competently for a game or two if necessary. I no longer feel that way. 1 2 Quote
