When I ran my mock offseason which included trading for DJ Moore and cutting Knox, I signed Mike Evans with a $9M cap hit. But I also signed Sean Rhyan to play center with a cap hit of $3.5M which obviously isn't needed anymore. McGovern will probably carry around a $7M cap hit so. So we're still on track to add the pieces we need on defense, just probably won't get another legit WR. And that's fine, as long as Beane adds one in the early rounds of the draft.

Humble brag 😂😂

Good call!!

Great news! Since he’s here four more years is this a good time now to see if you can get some draft capital for SVG with so much center demand?

Hmmmm interesting thought. Hes a center only right?

I'm surprised to be honest, I thought both he and Edwards would both be gone in FA. Looks like he gave the Bills a bit of a discount from the 16M I saw projected for him. Keeping Josh upright and clean is job #1.

Welcome back Gov'nor.

I have to wonder if his comments to the athletic about being willing to take less to stay in Buffalo is what got things rolling on this deal.

Seems very plausible to me. Before that, his last comments to the media were about wanting to maximize his value (or something along those lines). So Beane may have just felt there was no chance the Bills could afford him until he saw what McGovern said to Tim Graham.

If Beane is taking his cues from Timmah Graham and the Athletic we are in deep doo-doo.

Spotrac was saying $16.3 AAV, so this is a win if he plays his entire contract.

So will it be Anderson or Van Demark at LG, or do they flip O'Cyrus to help out an aging Dawkins?

Not my ideal move, but if the board reallt moves against us and that Penn State guard is BPA, then thats a sexier pick than it was 2 hours ago.

Im worries the group takes a step back with Kromer gone, throwing some talent at it wouldn't hurt

Maybe McGovern can quit whining to the media he hasn't heard anything from Beane.  Like Many of us said, no YOU haven't heard from him, but your agent has.

Need to structure it to hit later. Glad Allens Center is back, but more important we Still need Defense

I have to laugh at all the eye rolls.  Several of them were griping that Beane allegedly didn't contact McGovern, and he was a bad GM (again) etc.

It is a good deal, less than I thought he'd get on the open market. This does limit what we can do in the rest of FA though. Probably takes Evans and Doubs off the table. But we can still afford a mid to low tier EDGE, OLB, and safety.

We will restructure someone this weekend and ahead of the launch of FA 🫡

Did you have the Taron release? I’m just thinking that there’s so little on the books moving forward in terms of dead money they may be able to use some void year dollars. Maybe not.

Also, do you think that there’s any chance that the void year deadline on McGovern wasn’t reported correctly? If so, the Bills can carve some of that back lowering his hit for 2026 from whatever it is plus the $4.8M or whatever the number was. I have no idea why the Bills wouldn’t have extended that deadline if they planned to negotiate with him.

So Beane doesn’t suck after all, lol

Ha, yeah the Bills are like 86-33 over the past seven seasons (second only to KC by 1 game!)

and so many people want to run him out of town lol.  Do people realize how hard it would be to duplicate that record?!?  Not all his doing but don’t want to mess with success too much.

Never cared for SVG but glad we got him as insurance. The only place we seem to make smart long term planning decisions is the OL.

I mean, you aren't going to get a lot for him. But yeah, you could probably get a mid-late Day 3 Pick.

Yeah, he's pretty much exclusively a Center. Doesn't have the Guard experience or the measurements (specifically arm length) to think that it would be a good transition.

well then maybe someone will offer a 6th once other Centers are scooped up

Wouldn't be shocked if Edwards comes back now

I don't think they should bring Edward's back.  Too rich to have that much money tied up on the line.  The trenches are important but you can't be paying top money to every part of the line.
