Best off season news so far. With several teams losing their starting centers recently, this is a great win for the Bills.

Pretty wild to me, this might be the best season in nfl history to be a quality center, and McGovern didn't test the market and undoubtedly took much less than he could have got. Dont get me wrong im ecstatic hes back, but im guessing the desire to be the center that brings a SB to buffalo and be a buffalo legend for eternity is worth taking less money.

Great deal for the Bills. Love the focus on keeping the line as intact as possible. Edwards will be a loss but think with the 4 other starters back, it won’t be as noticeable. This keeps Josh happy and takes oline calls off his plate heading into a new era with Joe.

Yep, that’s passed. Sounds like it took this approach for the deal to get done. Not ideal but for it to end up at $13 mil a season, I will make my peace in losing the void year money.

I couldn't care less about the total value of the contract.....only the guarantees.  And the guaranteed money is a bargain compared to what I thought he would get on the open market.

 

Nice to have some security and familiariarity at that position.  And, with a contract that should be friendly to massage down the road if needed is nice to have.  Good, team-friendly, deal that I didn't see coming.  Good on both parties for getting it done!

Agreed - it will be interesting to see if it Anderson at Guard or if because of his flexibility- he gets the Bates treatment and they roll Van Pran or Grable versus a draft pick.

I feel like he would have received a minimum of 15 per on the open market as the #2 option behind Linderbaum. Good signing for the price and for his value to the offense. Now let’s get after the defense HARD. At least one FA starter and a defense heavy draft (hopefully more successful than Beane’s other defense heavy drafts)

He’s probably the #2 center available and Linderbaum is slated to cost in the 20 million range, so it’s a good deal IMO

I expected him to be in the $15m AAV range. I think it's cheap.

When I ran my mock offseason which included trading for DJ Moore and cutting Knox, I signed Mike Evans with a $9M cap hit. But I also signed Sean Rhyan to play center with a cap hit of $3.5M which obviously isn't needed anymore. McGovern will probably carry around a $7M cap hit so. So we're still on track to add the pieces we need on defense, just probably won't get another legit WR. And that's fine, as long as Beane adds one in the early rounds of the draft.
