Grable will be the first guy in anywhere but C IMO. That’ll be SVPG. I agree with this, I'm also excited about Clayton's development Jordan Mailata broke out in year 3 Quote
EmotionallyUnstable Posted March 9 Posted March 9 This move really solidifies the offense - even if they add zero pieces in FA and the draft (imagining an extreme hypothetical) - they are now able to effectively use all assets to retool defense to new scheme and style of players they want. They can bring in 8-10 new guys to get a look at how they want to build this thing. 1 Quote

Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong. It’s just a balancing act. Overthecap’s roster management tool isn’t quite as robust as Spotrac’s, but it does show the impact of cap moves a few seasons out. Pushing hard to create max space this season - and using that space - would quickly become problematic and unsustainable. The proverbial Cap Hell scenario that eventually requires a reset. Better to be aggressive, but paced for the long haul. 1 1 Quote
BuffaloBillsGospel2014 Posted March 9 Posted March 9 The OL struggled at times last season and now no Kromer but McGovern has been solid imo, definitely like this signing and the player plus I think Josh approves. I think we get a little nastier with Anderson starting this season to be honest. Now lets get Josh 1 more solid WR option and then concentrate on the defense through the draft. Quote

I've been fantasizing about the Bills using him as a sixth lineman in jumbo packages, as an eligible receiver since we signed him three years ago. Quote

Ehhh, I have a tough time arguing that players should generally be willing to take less money. Their window to earn big money is small and closes quickly. My default rule is "Take every penny you can from the league/owners". But on a case-by-case basis, I can see the reason for McGovern to stay and take a little less. Quote

My point is, with the higher $ players, a couple of million a year vs being happy is worth it. I predict that they push a lot of Josh's money out the next few years. When he does a small extension, it will "clear the books". 1 Quote

Essentially never argue for absurd discounts but many players would have far happier careers if they didn't solely focus on the Total $$$ 1 Quote

Maybe the raiders throw something like $18M/yr at McGovern instead of $28M/yr at Linderbaum. Obviously there’s no way for us to know, but I think it’s safe to say that McGovern would’ve pretty easily gotten more than $13M/yr. Edited March 17 by BillsFan4 Spelling 1 2 Quote
