You’re fired!” Pegula/Beane after McDermott is gone: “Ya know, we really need to revamp this roster” The problem wasn't McDermott pointing out roster flaws. The problem was McDermott trying to shirk his own responsibility for the team's failures to get over the hump. Stuff like not directly saying "yes" when a reporter asked him if he believed this was a Super Bowl roster. That routine got very old very fast. Obviously a roster turnover was happening no matter what, that's just a normal NFL offseason. 3 3 1 Quote

They are transitioning to a completely new, very different defensive scheme. That has more to do with these changes than anything else. Some of the guys that were fits for McDermott’s defense simply won’t be fits for Jim Leonhard’s defense. 2 Quote

JMO Rapp would IMO. Agree on Taron - he just doesn't fit what we want to run. Edited March 6 by GunnerBill 1 1 Quote

It's also possible that pegula was telling the truth and fired McDermott because we hit that playoff wall year after year. I'm thoroughly convinced McDermott knew he was being fired after the Denver game when he made the big stink about cook's non catch. My guess is pegula told him at some point that they were gonna move on if they didn't get to the superbowl 1 Quote

Victory Formation Posted March 6 Posted March 6 You really have to trust that Leonhard knows what he's doing, especially when it comes to the secondary.. 1 Quote

SectionC3 Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Bad day for the ________ Drive Interception Club. (They live on the same street.). Terrell Bernard might be a bit nervous since he too is a resident of that street. Quote

Beane was getting set up to be the scapegoat, and I think Pegula figures it out. 3 Quote

That was reported on back when the firing happened. After 9 years he started complaining about the roster? Between that and desperately reaching out to reporters after the Broncos game, McDermott saw the train coming down the tracks. Maybe Beane and Pegula should have complained about the way Sean handled the end of the 13 seconds Chiefs game? 1 Quote
Bruffalo Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Who will be our new human friendly-fire missile though? Good riddance. One of my least favorite players of the McDermott era. 1 1 Quote

Maybe Beane and Pegula should have complained about the way Sean handled the end of the 13 seconds Chiefs game? That is one specific instance that was reported on. I'm sure plenty went on behind the scenes. Beane and McDermott used to be lock step aligned on everything and used to appear together in front of the media. That stopped a couple of years ago, and there seemed to be tension between them. They certainly didn't see eye to eye by the end. Quote
