MPL Posted March 6 Posted March 6 I’m not sure I understand why they would do this before June 1st… Quote

So I'm thinking they wanted him to take a pay cut and he said no thanks? They may have been talking him up and trying to trade him at that point. But his play has declined for two straight years, and probably not alot of interest. 2 Quote

Justin C Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Always had a soft spot for Johnson and he was my favorite player on defense. But he definitely lost a step in the last few years. Quote
Green Lightning Posted March 6 Posted March 6 He was a great Bill and gave up his body so many times to make plays. But value per expenditure, it's the right move. 1 1 Quote

They’re going to hope to reinvest the $1.9M of savings into a rotational player. 1 Quote
SCBills Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Welp.. that evaluation went quickly. Maybe they did right by him, knowing there’s a slim chance he is capable of doing what they’d ask of him and want to make sure he’s able to latch on somewhere else. 1 Quote
Royale with Cheese Posted March 6 Posted March 6 He is forever going to be a trivia question in Buffalo. You'll be at a Bills Backers bar in 2054, having a drink watching Josh Allen's son playing QB for the Bills and you'll hear the in the commercial break a trivia question asked on the microphone. It will be about the pick 6 and you're going to reminisce....and then you'll hear another old man bring up 13 seconds. 2 Quote
BritBill Posted March 6 Posted March 6 And… That will be intercepted in the end zone. By Johnson. Taron Johnson. And only Jackson can stop him now. Too late. To the end zone. Touchdown. 5 3 Quote

What surprises me is that I don't think there's much for savings pre June 1st... so either this is a "we know we don't have a plan for him so let's respect the player and rip the band-aid off" or like another poster mentioned, we're giving him the opportunity to test the market and come back cheaper.... Although that 2nd thing doesn't make any sense because of the amount we're eating right now. I don't see any way Taron is back in Buffalo. So... pre or post June 1st? Quote
