TheyCallMeAndy Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Per Brady at the combine, I don't have the exact quote. Basically said Shakir offers more than a slot only WR and can play inside and outside. Him lining up outside at an increased rate creates several interesting wrinkles for this offseason. If #10 is your X or Y in 2-WR sets, Josh will always have an above average WR on the field. Also, with this scenario, Bills would only have a single lone outside WR position to fill in the draft or free agency. Shakir on the outside also creates interesting packages with Kincaid in the slot, or Keon Coleman. Shakir has been at 100 and 95 targets the last two years, and played 60% of the offensive snaps. Thoughts? Quote

Thoughts? I think Beane is downplaying an obvious need at outside WR. Shakir has played outside, but hasn’t been nearly as effective there as in the slot. He can play there in a pinch, but that should not be the plan. 5 1 1 Quote

Warcodered Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Whatever his actual role ends up being this next season, it doesn't hurt to tell the rest of the NFL that we could use him in all kinds of crazy ways. Keep making them prepare for more things so they have less time to hammer down on what's real. 2 1 Quote

strive_for_five_guy Posted February 25 Posted February 25 If this introduces more WR screens to the offense, I am really excited. I’ve been standing on the table for more. 4 1 Quote
billsbackto81 Posted February 25 Posted February 25 After 3 seasons if Shakir had any ability of being a boundary receiver and potential deep threat, I'm pretty sure we would've seen it on the field, not imagined it in theory. 1 2 1 1 Quote

ngbills Posted February 25 Posted February 25 Every thing is fine. With new minds in the room, um I mean Brady back in the room, we can do things completely different with the same guys and have a ton of amazing new ideas that no one else thought of. Its the, 2026 using Shakir different is just like adding a free agent or draft pick argument. In summary, McD leaving makes everyone on offense better. 1 Quote

MJS Posted February 25 Posted February 25 7 minutes ago, WotAGuy said: Wonder why Brady didn’t do this before next season? We all know it's because McDermott threatened him and demanded that Shakir never step foot outside of the slot position. That dastardly McDermott just had his thumb pressing ruthlessly on every aspect of the team at all times. Every bad draft pick, every bad decision on offense, every bad pass, and every bad run was because of McDermott. Don't even get me started on the failed screens. Good thing the oppressor is gone and Beane can pick the players he wants and Brady can make the scheme he wants. 9 Quote

BillsPride12 Posted February 25 Posted February 25 I think if they bring in better WR's that can help open up some more things for Shakir. So I wouldn't read too much into that quote in the sense they are just banking on using Shakir more instead of bringing in more weapons. 1 1 Quote
