US Egg Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Fun read and as credible as any other baseless speculation. https://www.joebucsfan.com/2026/02/media-selling-mike-evans-to-buffalo/ Quote
bills6969 Posted February 21 Posted February 21 The key decision is if we re-sign McGovern or not. IMO, it’s resign McGovern or sign one of the top WR FAs (Pierce, Doubs) Quote

Once all the restructuring takes place and a few cuts are made there will be plenty of cap to sign both, plus several other key moves. It's not an either/or situation. That said, I think McGovern is gone. 1 1 1 Quote
Desert Bills Fan Posted February 21 Posted February 21 (edited) “Ranking deepest, thinnest positions in NFL free agency, draft” - A good assessment by position from ESPN. Edge, WR, LB of interest for us hoping for an influx of talent. Also OL affecting outlook for McGovern… https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/47958363/2026-nfl-offseason-ranking-positions-free-agency-draft-class-deep-thin Edited February 21 by Desert Bills Fan Quote

Blank Stare Posted February 21 Posted February 21 McD is gone, but I’d be surprised if Beane’s philosophy is altered much at center. He really values that position (i.e., Wood extension, Morse big money FA, and McGovern), so I’d be surprised if they don’t have a good plan there. McGovern and Edwards may both be gone, but, of the two, I think McGovern has the higher likelihood of coming back. If not, they are grabbing someone to at least challenge SedVanPanGran. I’m not a fan of Anderson at center. I’m good with him at guard though. 4 1 Quote
Desert Bills Fan Posted February 21 Posted February 21 For cap maneuvering, can’t we sign McGovern with a big signing bonus but little salary this year, multi year contract? so it doesn’t eat up a lot of cap space? in fact can’t we do that with someone like Shaheed too? I am sure we have some capologists on here that could help understand that strategy as legal? 1 Quote

I would prefer we draft and get some modest FA, maybe like a Christian Kirk. 1 2 Quote
First Round Bust Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Lets start with signing our own..I got McGovern at the top of the list...we cant overpay for guards so one loss on the OL is tolerable and keeping both tackles and centers would be ideal...not sure about the rest of our free agents to keep tho..but lets keep one 2 Quote

I am sure we have some capologists on here that could help understand that strategy as legal? That strategy is legal and used on most of the Bills large contacts. It’s “turbocharged” by adding void years. The problem is that the bill comes due in the future. I think Bills have handled this reasonably well, but they have a minimum of $32 million in dead cap for 2026. Could be more if there is an unexpected cut (eg Palmer). That’s enough to sign 3-4 quality starters. Quote
BuffaloBillyG Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Interesting enough, looks like Beane and the Bills weren't the only team Miami jilted on a Waddle trade at the deadline last year. Lends credence that I think the Dolphins were just using Buffalo to drive up their asking price for Waddle...and the Steelers didn't bite. Also notable, Kaboly is just guessing that the Steelers will try and get Waddle. Other reports have indicated that Waddle and Achane aren't guys Miami wants to trade as they are cornerstones of the rebuild. A team would have to absolutely blow them away for either. Tl;dr: Waddle will not be in Buffalo lol 2 1 Quote

Lots of teams need a center and he is arguably the second best one available behind Tyler Linderbaum. McGovern has been vocal about wanting to max his earning this FA. I don’t see the Bills giving him a 18-20 mil a year deal. Instead, Beane will sign a vet with starting exp like he did McGovern when he brought him in from Dallas. blacklabel Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Should this thread get a pin? Already got plenty of links in here, seems like a great start to the FA madness. 1 2 Quote
