We had a mascot event at a local minor league baseball teams stadium. We had the crime dog rapel down a rope from a helicopter, Yogi bear, the crash test dummies guys and more. I was escorting the crash test dummies down the concourse to the field when about 8 little kids came screaming and running at the crash test dummies. Thinking they were excited to meet them, but one of the little bastards runs right up and kicks the one dead square in the package! The dummy went down hard, writhing in pain on the ground! All the little kids were laughing and pointing at him. We helped him get to his feet and fortunately there was a locker room close by and we got him in there. He throws off his helmet and is dropping F bombs & how he's going to kill that little MF'er! 😂 I still get tears even typing this, he was so pissed! I guess this is a thing after talking with the other mascots that kids do stuff like this to them. Crazy scene. Every time I see those crash test dummies I think of this story 😀 When I was back in college, a bunch of my friends and I did work for a production company. One of the gigs was dressing up as cartoon characters for a video store opening (kind of dates me 🙂). My buddy was Scooby Doo. The Scooby Doo costume was different. There was just a hole in the back of the outfit where the tail would be. The tail itself was attached to kind of like underwear or a jock type of thing. You would put the underwear/tail on, then put the costume on and feed the tail out the back (where the hole was). Of course, most of the day it was just a bunch of kids and their moms who interacted with us. One kid decided he was just going to keep pulling Scooby Doos' tail. But every time he pulled the tail, it yanked the underwear and therefore my friend's junk. I'm not sure how many times the kid pulled the tail, but eventually my friend lost it. With all of these kids and moms surrounding us, Scooby Doo turned to the kid and yelled, "If you don't stop pulling my f'n tail you little sh*t, I am going to kick your f'n ass!" We all died laughing as the kids and moms just stood there shocked with mouths open. And then most of the moms just grabbed their kids and walked away quickly. 1 1 Quote
gomper Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Reminds me of this classic. Imagine your own mascot heckling the team lol 2 Quote
ExiledInIllinois Posted February 19 Posted February 19 AND to think they go on to play 0-1 Miami the following week & lose... What a Billsy thing to do!🤣 😠😡 Quote
reddogblitz Posted February 19 Posted February 19 This is great. Bring it back! The modern day Billy Buffalo looks like a fat care Bear. 1 1 Quote

I was more interested in OJ than the rest of the team. But OJ got hurt and our chances looked dim against a Raiders team that was undefeated on MNF. Seemed pointless to keep watching. And then it wasn't. Thirteen years old, upper deck, with my grand mother and great aunt! 1 2 Quote
Behindenemylines Posted February 21 Posted February 21 The Buffalo Camels?? Im all in on bringing this back time to time. Totally awesome and hilarious and you know the two dudes I that suit were smoking some type of menthol cigarettes while running around and smelled like Genny Screamers. Go (ago) Bills Quote
Tony P Posted February 21 Posted February 21 That was my cousin and his best friend in the Buffalo. The costume was on display at the Belle Star in Colden until they both went up in flames in August of 1980. Miraculously, the Head survived the fire, was rescued and is still on display in Ellicottville at Madigan's. Drove down there this summer while visting back home for a few weeks. That pic is me and the Head. 3 1 2 2 Quote

Einstein Posted February 22 Posted February 22 I can't put my finger on it, but football was better before 2000. Maybe it was the lack of constant NFL coverage. 1 Quote

Fantasy sports starting to become widespread perhaps? I know I watch football differently seasons I have done fantasy football, which I haven't in a while cause I don't like being annoyed that the wrong person made an amazing play 1 Quote

A loss of spontaneity/freshness. All things NFL are constantly in an in your face cycle, then repeatedly recycled. 1 Quote

Al Meltzer doesn't get enough credit in Bills history; he had a great radio play-by-play voice. To be honest, my brothers and I preferred Al to Van Miller in the short time he called Bills games (2 seasons?). He was the one who did that "Oooooh Baaaaaby!" call, right? Van was just sort of ... plodding. On the radio, it was faster to judge the outcome of a play from the crowd's reaction instead of waiting for Van (especially on FG tries)! 1 Quote
