Rams at Bills 1980

This was a low scoring game that the Bills won 10-7 in OT.

 

No scoring in the 1st half. Both teams score TDs in the 3rd quarter. Bills win in OT. For those who want to fast forward to the scoring plays. Skip the 1st half. I believe this win clinched a playoff spot for the Bills. Back in the playoffs for the first time in years.

I might was at a later rams st bills game with Kelly at QB.The foggy Monday night game with a late TD to win. I think Reed caught it.

That was in 89. Kelly had a separated shoulder and the LA Monday Night Football game was Reich's first career start. He mostly stunk but played well in the 4th quarter and threw the winning TD to Reed with less than 30 seconds to go to knock off the unbeaten Rams.

According to the announcers, Nick Mike-Mayer had missed 8 of his last 10 FG attempts before kicking the game-winner. Yikes!

I remember this game well. Just my second game ever. It was cold and rainy.

 

But watching this now? How on earth did we ever watch the games without the info bar across the bottom. We were expected to know the score, the time left, the play clock time left, how many time outs each team had as well as the down and distance, without a yellow line to show us. 

 

We were football barbarians.

You sure that wasn’t Rich Cammirillo and the Arizona cardinals? I was at that game as well as a sudden lake effect burst rolled through and his punt blew back over his head … said he hated this 💩hole 😂

Was not aware of this one but it seems the bills have had some classic games with the Rams.

 

The Monday night one where Reich led the final drive to bet them.

 

 

 

Then in more present times that last 2 games with them were real close too

This was my first Bills game! Was getting hammered the night before and I decided to drive 2.5 hrs to the game. Scalped a ticket right below the press box. Vin Scully and George Allen were doing the game. Don't even know how I made it home. Ah, those were the days!

I was at that game. Reich stunk up the joint, for 3 /12 quarters, and suddenly 'got it', to win in a thriller. I believe that Reich won all 3 of his starts in '89, and suddenly the talk on WGR, was about 'the QB controversy'.
