As we say in this business...Hear me out.

1) What is the most important and valuable position in the NFL - QB. Yes, we have one in Josh Allen, but we can find another for two reasons:

       a) If Josh goes down for an extended period of time, we have a young QB waiting in the wings. Think Tom Brady, Steve Young, etc.

       b) If the young draftee shows improvement, maturity, success in year 1 or 2 of a rookie contract, does he not become an instant trade candidate for a player or draft         compensation.

2) Take a look at the QB position on many, many teams in the NFL: Miami, Arizona, Minnesota, Jets, Pittsburgh, Rams (in two years), Dallas (in a few years), etc.  Some teams are ACTUALLY looking to start Jameis Winston or Andy Dalton because they have no other option (Fernando being selected first and leaving B grade QB's for the other teams.)

If we do a little homework and draft a young QB with our first pick (27th) we get the ability to lock him/her in for five years if they show promise.  That QB can then be parlayed into multiple high end draft picks (multiple high firsts) because the team that pays that much for our young QB obviously chit the bed the year before.

3) We can draft a DE or LB later on (Round 3 or 4)...we've shown better success drafting those players in later rounds anyway.

Big picture: Draft a skilled/smart QB early and often, no matter who your QB is.  They are commodities that appreciate in value for the betterment of the team in future years. The Lion King Nba GIF

No. No it is not. We have too many holes to fill to burn a premium pick on a guy that won't likely see meaningful snaps here. And this is definitely not the draft to splurge on a QB early.

It’s called “reverse psychology”…create a narrative that this year’s QB crop sucks, then grab the one you’ve done homework on. There will always be crappy teams who are desperate for a QB. Especially one who trains with Josh Allen.

Allen will turn 30 this summer. He will be the QB for many years with the Bills. They can't waste a pick on QB in the early rounds who will just hold a clipboard for years. Maybe when Allen is 33 or 34, I could see the Bills planning for the future at the QB position. Right now, there are too many needs at other positions the Bills need to improve on.

That's my point: Start now by drafting a QB in Round 1...get your other "need" picks in later rounds. We excel at that. BUT, parlay that Round 1 QB (at pick 27) into multiple 1st round picks to help Josh the following three years.  As it stands, you aren't doing anything to help the team by drafting a subpar DT at pick 27.

Look forward, NOT backward.

Picks in the 2029 draft don't do anything for us now. We are in a win now era. Rather than get a guy to train with Allen, we need to get a guy for Allen to throw to. To keep him standing on the OL. To play defense and get the ball back to him.

You're talking about a luxury move when we don't have that luxury this year. And no, the Bills didn't create a false narrative that the QB class sucks. Neither did the media who gets more engagement when they can push how good a QB class is.

Seriously, it's not too late to delete this thread.

For years I envied the Patriots, who didn't need to waste draft capital on QB for nearly a decade. Even though this usually means you are picking lower in the draft, you get to find the complimentary pieces in the 25-32 range.

Your plan is sound, in 4-5 years. Right now, it's gotta be all hands on deck to get a SB with Josh. This year that means retooling the Defense.

Look forward, but backward.

Beane needs to hit HRs in rounds 1 and 2 this time. I wouldn't draft a QB in round 1 or 2 this year. The team is trying to win a Super Bowl with Allen, and they need to upgrade at other positions such WR and the front 7 on defense. In a couple of years from now then start looking for Allen's eventual replacement but not this offseason. IMHO.

We pick 26th. Not 27th. Your attention to detail is as on point as the thought process of this thread.

No? Allen is going to play longer than 5 years and he’ll do it at a high level. If that is the case drafting a first round QB or even 2nd rounder means you will sit him all 4 or 5 years pending injury obviously. Then he becomes a free agent, realizes he’s still blocked by Allen and goes elsewhere. So you used a high draft pick for basically 4-5 years of nothing
