What about playing in 5 superbowls without winning one?

That would be a record.

Why are you like this?

I'm not sure Blanda's int record could ever be broken simply because how long would any coach these days stick with a QB who was on that kind of pace?

The only way I could see a coach not benching a guy at the halfway point of the season sitting at 24+ interceptions is if he was also sitting at 30+ TD passes.

I'd go WR with the extra game.  Five WR's since the extra game was added in 2020 constitute the 10 best WR yard seasons of all time.  Kupp being the closest only finishing 17 yards behind Calvin Johnson.  I could see Jefferson (once he gets a real QB), Chase, Nakua, or Coleman breaking it.

I see what you did there lol

Peyton Manning 5477 yards

Eric Dickerson 2105 rushing yards

LT 31 TDs

Calvin Johnson 1964 receiving yards

Peyton Manning 55 passing TDs

Brett favre 297 consecutive starts

George blanda 42 interceptions thrown 1 season

Night train lane 14 interceptions on defense 1 season

Bruuuuuuceeeee 200 sacks

The ones I have bolded I can see falling fairly soon. Main reason being is the amount of games played in a season and the league always pushing the passing game.

If Joe Burrow could stay healthy enough for an entire season Manning's yard and TD record would be in serious jeopardy as would Johnson's receiving yards.

Dickerson's record will likely be passed as well. In fact I think Barkley would have broken it had he played that final game of the season 2 years ago.

Especially if the league goes to 18 games they need to move to more a yards/TDs/whatever stat per game over total accumulated.

Dickerson doesn't even have the REAL rushing record. 2,003 yards in 14 games is the gold standard for RBs. With the league a passing league the real rushing record of 2,003 yards in 14 games will never be broken.

Talk about greatest wasted seasons, worse yet, greatest wasted careers? Imagine going through a career loaded with accolades without winning…..never mind.

I think 1 and 2 are going down in the next decade.

Peyton's record will be era dependent. It's not getting broken anytime soon, but when we eventually shift back to passing I could see that one falling sooner than LT's 31 TD. RB's need to be so heavily featured to get near that. So many 2 back teams and TD wealth sharing.

You would think Allen has a chance at Farve and maybe he does, but to put it in context, he's not even half way. That is just a crazy record.

INT's a are a bit random, but most the 11+ guys played in a different era. Only about 5 guys have had even 10 or more in the 2000's. Lanes record has held up 70+ years already.  Diggs got the closest with modern players and it probably remains that way perhaps past most of our lifetimes.

Then finally, nobody is breaking Blanda's record. The leashes just aren't long enough at this point for that to happen.

1. Calvin Johnson 1964 receiving yards

2. Eric Dickerson 2105 rushing yards

3. Peyton Manning 5477 yards

4. Peyton Manning 55 passing TDs

5. LT 31 TDs

6. Brett favre 297 consecutive starts

7. Night train lane 14 interceptions on defense 1 season

8. George blanda 42 interceptions thrown 1 season

But if a team gives Jameis Winston a starting job, then...................

Josh has the ability to break both Manninga records, if they take the chains off and let him be aggressive.  It also comes down to Carmichael scheming and Brady playcalling.  Its not like Carmichael doesnt have experience in scheming up 5000 yard seasons.

Peyton’s total yardage IMO

Posted

Season length:

1947-1960: 12 games a season

1961-1977: 14 games a season

1978-2020: 16 games a season

2021-present: 17 games

There's talk of an 18 game season.

Some of those "a season" records from the older eras are impressive given the reduced number of games they played.

Interceptions thrown will never be broken. QBs are way more efficient now than in the past, and teams won’t tolerate that level of ineptitude, even when tanking.

Consecutive starts seems like the next least likely. Allen has an outside shot, but one bad tackle will snap it.

The rest seem totally doable in a 17 game season. The total TDs is a little bit harder because teams score more by committee now. It would require special circumstances.

Totally agree on Blanda but here is the absolute crazy stat: that year  he was 2nd team ALL PRO!

actually, I believe that Gale Gilbert played in 5 and lost. Not only did he play in 5 an lost, he lost 5 in a row... so I believe 6 would be the record... I do not think anyone will ever match the 5 consecutive SB loss though...

They must have had a tremendous defense

That & fullback Charlie Tolar, whose nickname was "The Human Bowling Ball" for his 200 lb. 5'6 inch height.

In the early days of the AFL, the Oilers and Chargers competed yearly for the AFL crown.

Were you there to watch it live you old coot?

Not live but on TV. We were poor and had only one TV. It was black and white. We could only affor two channels: CBS and NBC.
