Boomer Esiason on WFAN breaks down how because the SB was played in California, Sam Darnold had to pay $240K over a 7-day stay due to CA's "Jock Tax" of 3.5% (compounded daily? I'm not sure how it's calculated) and made $178(?)K for being on the winning team. A net negative of $71K. He had to pay to play in the SB.

Sure, guys make bank in their regular season contracts that winkwinknodnod includes pay for the playoffs. But for guys making league minimum, that is a sizable chunk out of their take-home.

Boomer says the NFLPA needs to do something about this and possibly push to not have future SBs in California.

Seriously. Guy has a $100M+ contract and made like $4M in bonus money and Boomer is outraged over $71K?

But how is he actually earning money when he isn't playing?

That’s what accountants are for. Accountants are the reason that people like Elon Musk don’t pay any tax, on hundreds of millions of dollars in income.

We have a trillion dollar defense budget. That money, doesn’t grow on trees.

Elon musk owns businesses which pay more taxes than some cities gdp.

This is misleading in the sense that every state that has a state income tax taxes athletes based on games played in the state. Football, basketball, baseball, hockey, etc. and it’s not just the Super Bowl.  Not saying it’s fair but it’s not just Darnold, not just the Super Bowl and not just California.

The point the man had to pay to go to work don't you see something wrong with that?
