Sierra Foothills Posted February 9 Posted February 9 (edited) One of the biggest fears expressed here when Joe Brady was named as the Bills new Head Coach was that he would retain many of the coaches he had been colleagues with and that there wouldn't be enough meaningful change in the staff... in other words same old, same old. Here's where Brady's staff stands 13 days after he was tabbed by the Bills: Position 2025 2026 Head Coach Sean McDermott Joe Brady Offensive Coordinator Joe Brady Pete Carmichael Defensive Coordinator Bobby Babich Jim Leonhard Special Teams Chris Tabor Jeff Rodgers Offensive Line Aaron Kromer Pat Meyer Offensive Line Asst. Austin Gund Austin Gund Quarterbacks Ronald Curry Bo Hardegree Running Backs Kelly Skipper Kelly Skipper Wide Receivers Adam Henry Drew Terrell Tight Ends Rob Boras Rob Boras Passing Game Marc Lubick Marc Lubick Offensive Quality Control Kyle Shurmur/DJ Mangas Kyle Shurmur/DJ Mangas Defensive Line Marcus West Terrance Jamison Defensive Line Asst. Jason Rebrovich Linebackers Al Holcomb John Egorugwu Linebackers Bobby April III Cornerbacks Jahmile Addae Jay Valai Nickel Mike Pellegrino Safeties Joe Danna Senior Defensive Asst. Dr. Who Posted February 9 Posted February 9 I think someone shared something in one of the threads that indicated Boras and Skipper were retained. I've no idea which thread or the source of that information, however. 1 Quote
Kmart128 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Yes Boras and Skipper and I think a couple others were retained 1 1 Quote

Holdovers in bolded font. Of the 19 position coaches: All 3 Coordinators are new All 6 holdovers are Offensive Assistants It appears that there'll be at least 3 more defensive coaches hired Edited February 9 by Sierra Foothills 3 2 Quote
BuffaloBillyG Posted February 9 Posted February 9 I think for a guy that's been a coordinator or less for really not a whole long time...Brady has built a really solid and exciting staff. I'd like to see one more "old guard" type former HC as an assistant. But I really admire what he's done so far. 6 1 6 Quote
Generic_Bills_Fan Posted February 9 Posted February 9 (edited) The Jay valai/jim Leonard two for one had to be pretty close to best case scenario. Think they played together in Wisconsin. Don’t know much about Jamison but he seems pretty highly regarded too I could see valai getting DC offers pretty quickly if things go at least pretty well in the secondary. Probably got Leonard for at least a couple years unless things go insanely well on defense lol Edited February 9 by Generic_Bills_Fan Quote

A lot of these coaches come from the college ranks. We have no clue how they’ll be as coaches in the NFL. Best to wait until the games actually start before we crown them as a “solid” staff Edited February 9 by JohnNord 1 1 Quote
gonzo1105 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 It’s a more youthful group at least defensively , makes sense to retain more of the offensive guys as offense mainly wasn’t the issue. 1 2 Quote

ColoradoBills Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Interesting that Joe Danna, Safeties Coach (been in Buffalo since 2023) is still not let go or replaced. HCJL no doubt wants a good coach for his former spot. Maybe the work Joe has done with Bishop has helped him to stay on. Also, maybe Joe has some good insights on McDermott's coaching up of safeties that he wants to keep. 1 Quote
Matt_In_NH Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Anyone have a link to apply to the safeties position? I am the balls at safeties in Madden 1 Quote
BCAS Baritone Posted February 10 Posted February 10 I think this is a very good staff. I would have been inclined to get a new Passing Game Coordinator - haven't been impressed with that. Maybe with new OC, WR coach and QB coach they didn't want too much change there for Josh's sake, but our passing game has felt unimaginative. Of course who bears the blame for that? Brady? WR Coach? WR players? Passing Coordinator? 1 Quote

But Carmichael is interesting because, as a Payton guy, he ought to be strong where Brady is weakest: downfield passing concepts. And Leonhard is interesting because he seems to be a smart up-and-coming guy who's very knowledgeable in defensive Xs and Os. I'm disappointed Kromer retired, but it seems like a legit staff. We'll see. 2 Quote

We'll see. What I admire is the coaches he was able to land. Carmichael leaving Sean Payton's side is a big deal. It's pretty notable that he jumped at the opportunity. Leonard was pretty highly coveted. There were a few places that had interest...but Brady landed him. Even a lot of the assistants they have brought in there was competition for. Now, will it translate to wins? Who knows and we will see. I'm pretty optimistic about it. 1 2 Quote
ChasBB Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Whenever I see a full list of coaching staff, I half expect to see Chuck Lester listed still. :) 3 1 Quote

I haven't seen any official announcements that they have been retained, but on the official Bills website, they are still listed as coaches. There is no reason at this point to think they won't be retained. 1 Quote
