Gregg Posted February 9 Posted February 9 There will be a push this off-season to extend the NFL trade limits from three years of draft picks to five. pic.twitter.com/h4sVWTZBIO — Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) February 9, 2026 1 Quote

The Jets have an offer that they could make that the Bengals should consider. 🤣🤣 They have like 5 firsts and 4 seconds in the next 2 years. The Bengals should wait a year though to make sure that Jets picks are early. 3 Quote

HardyBoy Posted February 9 Posted February 9 The most terrifying thing in sports is a gm on a short leash feeling like they need to make a huge turnaround in a single year... this would make that even more terrifying I also don't think beane is on that short leash fwiw... he's gonna push hard to build as good a team for the next five years because it's Josh Allen's timeline...I don't think Beane's seat is that hot unless Brady has an absolute collapse as a coach this upcoming season 1 3 Quote
Walking Tall Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Hate this idea. A GM could absolutely destroy a teams future if he is on the hotseat. 4 9 1 Quote

Although the GMs probably like the idea of having this additional flexibility, and the Owners/NFL probably see it as another moneymaker because of the potential for more intriguing trades. In other words, who’s going to vote against it? Quote
Old Coot Posted February 9 Posted February 9 When Ditka was HC of the Saints he gave up all his draft picks plus some future picks to draft Ricky Williams, a star running back from the University of Texas. It did not go well. 1 2 Quote

NORWOODS FOOT Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Things are getting stupid 🤪 It’s the mentality that is kinda shocking here: Don’t wait! Buy now at the low low cost of your future! ”This rule change is brought to you by Visa, Master Card, American Express, et al.” 2 Quote

Kirby Jackson Posted February 10 Posted February 10 (edited) I think 2 things will happen: 1) Teams will target elite drafts. 2027 looks way better than 2026. Even though it’s “in the future” there will be better players early. I bet they also institute that you can’t trade consecutive years like in the NBA. 2) It’ll take on a NBA vibe where you target “down years” for picks. As an example, if you’re trading with the Bears, you want picks after Caleb’s extension kicks in. That’s a few years from now but you might see a worse Bears roster at that time. NBA trades often are targeted for “after superstar ____ is done.” Edited February 10 by Kirby Jackson 2 1 Quote
