D wins championships......

Last year, Philly's D absolutely mopped the floor with Mahomes and this year the Sea Chickens D gave NE a good old fashioned out behind the wood pile spanking.

Here's hoping our D turns the corner.

........i'm confident that we'll get our D right this time

Leonhard is going to have to find guys who can make open field tackle better and of course get to the passer. If the plan is a 34/43 hybrid we also need to find a bonafide NT and add some serious size to our LBs. It can be done but the elusive edge rusher might not be available unless we trade up in the draft or luck into one.

Good teams win championships, it's just good teams have both offense and defense not just offense

Point being is if your defense can limit your opponents ability to score you don't need your offense to score as much. To me that's an easier way to formulate a win than constantly trying to just outscore your opponent.

What's is clear is that pressure on the QB wins championships. Bend but don't break archaic schemes, don't and rarely have. The best move the Bills have made in a very long time was getting rid of McDermott and his scheme. It's all about pressure, exotic blitzes and being able to get to the QB rushing 4 when it's needed.

You can't win a chess match when you sit in cover 2.

D wins championships if you have an elite D. QBs win championships if you have an elite QB. The Bills path to winning a Super Bowl is the Mahomes/Brady/Brees/IndyManning path not the Eagles and Seahawks path.

Yes, I'm always harping on that old phrase.  You see guys like Darnold and Hurts winning the SB in back to back years.  You start to realize you don't need an Alien QB to win a SB.  Both Seattle and Philly have very stout D lines.  I feel like in the playoffs you probably need your offense to win one game...(i.e. Seattle over the Rams).  But for the most part your defense and especially D Line will carry the day.  Offense needs to be efficient and mistake free.  Seattle in 3 games had zero turnovers.

The Pats being total frauds didn't hurt Seattle either. The New England defense was tough too. But Seattle eventually overcame them.

Maybe this will be the year where we don't have a coach on one side or the other set it their stubborn stupid way...ie. rush 4 only. I'm confident that these guys will try to .....hopefully be ahead of the curve. We're already 2 years behind on the defensive front.

i hear what you are saying, but our O coulda put up 30+ on either team last night.  we only lost the first game to the cheats because of some really bad play calling by brady, and awful fumbles on a jet sweep and by coleman.

i think with 2 weeks to prepare and heal up in a super bowl, allen would go insane and has a solid chance to put up 40+

A healthy Hoecht and Ed Oliver will give boost to 2026.

And Taron Johnson and Christian Benford are reasons for optimism.

We always have Damar Hamlin.. ha ha.

Is JA not elite?

All those teams had excellent defenses.  They had great qb’s and great defenses.  The saints defense probably the worst of the bunch but it was still really good.

I don't agree. That Seattle defense would have mauled Josh just like the Texans did.

That's really hard to say if he still is. I feel like the last two years neutered what made Josh elite. Can Joe Brady find that spark in him again?

Yeah, it's going to be amazing next year to watch a defense (hopefully) able to stop the run, get pressure and make stops on 3rd and long to get the ball back to Allen and the offense. Will also be amazing to (hopefully) see a defense able to pick up and make it easier for the offense if the they play less than perfect.

Add in a couple capable WRs, and this could be the start of an amazing year in the new stadium.

I have been mostly against drafting defense high and often over the past several years mainly because I didn’t trust McD and his scheme. It just didn’t matter who we drafted or signed, you could bet that they would fall apart in the biggest moments, which they always did. This came mostly at the expense of putting elite weapons around Allen. That was my gripe. Now, if leonhard can come in and attack, I’m all for it, as long as they find a WR either through a trade or a high pick.
