Kelly to Allen Posted February 9 Posted February 9 (edited) We can make fun of Drake maye all we want but he's going to improve most likely into his third year and the Patriots cap situation is way better than Buffalo as they already have around 80 million in cap room without doing any restructures.... This is going to be an extremely difficult and important off-season for Beane as this bills roster simply does not have enough Blue Chip talent around Allen on offense or defense. Even though Drake Maye isn't as good as Josh Allen, it might not matter next year.... Again, when Jim Kelly turn 30 that roster on paper was already set up for a multiple year Super bowl run. They had two number one wide receivers on the outside, and two elite hall of fame or hall of fame adjacent outside pass rushers. If you want to count Kincaid as a number 2 wr and Rousseau as a really good outside pass rusher im cool with that. But beane has to get a top tier vertical wr , and another one as a number 2ish/ 3ish vertical separation guy at wr. It is very possible He then needs to find a blue chip talent as a true outside pass rusher to compliment Rousseau. Again it's possible. But Allen is turning 30, and there is no Reed, Lofton, Bruce Smith or Bennett in place.... I'm personally preparing for a mini reset for 1 year as annoying as that is. This is just not a Superbowl roster and won't get there unless Beane has a great draft this year Edited February 9 by Kelly to Allen 1 1 1 Quote

Their two rookies on the left side got absolutely abused. However, the one INT Drake threw was atrocious. Stepped up into the pocket and aired it into the middle of the field when the receiver was breaking on a deep post to the outside corner; wide open. If he leads that throw with any anticipation it’s a game changing play. For a guy who garnered 23 first place MVP votes, you would expect him to make the throw where it should have gone even if incomplete and not where it ended up. The talk of him “getting hit” on the throw wasn’t enough to warrant where it ended up. I’ve been an advocate of Maye playing well when some have said otherwise. I still stand by that. For the regular season only. These playoffs were dreadful for a guy many were putting on the AFC pedestal with the likes of Mahomes, Josh, Burrow and Lamar. Dude sh*t the bed in the playoffs but got bailed out by that defense. Great point. Plenty of missed throws that stalled any chance of keeping up with Seattle. It's not a pure indicative statement that Drake is terrible.. he is talented and young but it shows he's far off from being a top three quarterback in the league He's still a system quarterback right now Quote

Kirby Jackson Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Hot take: Maye is more likely a backup in 2028 than a top 5 MVP finisher in either of the next 2 years. 4 1 2 Quote

Great line. Maye showed how he faked his way into the SB. Beating a horrible offense in Houston and a backup QB in Denver. They can’t control their easy schedule, but did show they didn’t belong there. 1 Quote
Matt_In_NH Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Pats also need a new left tackle. That rookie blows Seriously the national media should roast his awful post season. His defense dragged him to the Super Bowl and he ***** the bed Quote

If by ‘game manager’ you mean a superior OL and excellent WRs & RBs, I suppose so. But Starr was a truly crafty field General, calling pass when runs were expected, running draws in passing situations. Bart was a brilliant tactician. Nothing like a ‘game manger’ you insinuate. 1 Quote

Nihilarian Posted February 9 Posted February 9 The Seahawks made everyone (but the Rams, with their MVP QB) look bad with their defense. Seattle won by running the ball and playing great defense. RB Walker 27 attempts for 135 yards Defense does win Championships as we watched again. I don't care if Beane spends every draft pick and every penny of FA money on defense. Fix that darn Buffalo run defense and pass rush. The 2025 Buffalo Bills were 28th in rush yards allowed and 31st in rush TDs. 30th in rushing yards attempts allowed. 1 1 1 Quote

If your offense scored 35 points a game, you don’t need to worry about the run. Teams can’t run. Make teams 1 dimensional and rush the passer. Make them keep up. This game was more about the fact that Drake Maye and the Pats offense isn’t any good. They weren’t going to be a threat. The Seahawks didn’t need to respect any of their playmakers. Care to know what Seattle's star WR and QB did in that SB? Cooper Cup was the Hawks' leading WR with 6 receptions for 61 yards. Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who had 1793 yards, 10 TDs in the regular season, was their 4th receiver with 4 receptions for 27 yards in that SB. Buffalo already has a great run game with decent receivers. FIX that lousy defense! Quote
